So, an AMG is not a Merc? Anyway, I've never driven an RS6, but always loved the concept. Not so much a sleeper nowadays, though.

    That’s right. :p

Full disclosure - I’m not an Audi fan at least in part because my brother worships them and refuses to buy anything else.
I’ve always preferred BMWs simply because I think they are much nicer to drive. More of a drivers car, if you will.
I’ve done a couple of Audi drive days with my brother including some time in the S and RS cars and they are bloody quick but I never felt that the handling was up to BMW standards. Maybe I’m just biased.

Having said all that the current crop of BMWs are about the most hideous things you can get on four wheels. Utterly awful and an embarrassment to the brand.

Thankfully Alpina use the last tasteful BMW as the starting point for the B3 and honestly I reckon it’d be the perfect daily car.

Lets have a quick look at the word SPORT when it's,literally, attached to motorcars..4 door sedans actually.
I just followed through town a mid blue coloured Toyota Ascent 4 door sedan with the word 'sport' displayed in roaring red red beneath 'Ascent'.
This car is about as sporting as a secondhand shoe so why name it as such.
Toyota also have a Camry badged as a Sportivo..again with nil sporting heritage or modifications so why?

We also have that doyen of offroading, the Landrover, using the bloody word for a 2.4 tonne behemoth.

We then have ,as is Steve's and many others here disgust of that connotation the dreaded SUV..sports utility vehicle.

Sports, pertaining to motorcars,=higher than standard performance, handling and braking accompanied by a more 'fruity' exhaust.

Utility, well Aussies are at the forefront of THAT word as the original Ford ute was invented (not alongside 'The Stiick) by a bloke whom wanted to chuck a couple of bales of hay for his sheep and chuck the missus in the front of a sedan like riding vehicle.

Vehicle via Wiki pretty much sums it up:

A vehicle (from Latin vehiculum)[1] is a piece of equipment designed to transport people or cargo. Vehicles include wagons, bicycles, motor vehicles (motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, mobility scooters for disabled people), railed vehicles (trains, trams), watercraft (ships, boats, underwater vehicles), amphibious vehicles (screw-propelled vehicles, hovercraft), aircraft (airplanes, helicopters, aerostats) and spacecraft.[2]

So fairly openended...but the word 'sport' is not mentioned.

I googled the word and up came a pics of cars badged "sport" and most were SUV type vehicles.

I'm glad that our resident Sport Utility Vehicle owner is happy using his in the manner in which it was designed ie carrying around enough spare wheels and tyres to fill up a pitlane for a sportscar race. :)

Apparently the ‘sport’ in SUV is the old English version meaning to ‘amuse or play’ https://www.etymonline.com/word/sport

carry on all you like re my SUV, but I note I would have owned and driven/ridden more miles than you in Sports cars . Would you like me to again put up photos of me as a baby in my mother's pre-war MG TB?

You'll also NOTE I do have at the present TWO sports cars one my 2 seater E-type roadster (not 4 seats and my Porsche Cab .

And NOT on Chinese rubbish tyres

At least she has got a Ferrari , I think it's time to move on Rob, I'm getting a bit sick of your misogyny towards her just because she has a different view of the world

Nothing about misogyny, she comes on here stirring up everyone with her comments.

    # Misogyny -right I'm very proud John of both my relationship with my past wife and my current partner, the way I treat females in public in business, and employment. If she was a bloke calling me a racist, the next time I saw "HIM" I'd confront ! Do you open a door for a female or give them the right of way when I driving? I do. When I separated from my wife I treated her with personnel respect and financial assistance way above what the law would require others DON'T

And I don't like being called a racist!

Maybe not a misogynist but why not just IGNORE Karen ?

I spoke out of turn suggesting you're a misogynist , apologies, but I am sick of hearing you bleat about Karen ALL the time, just give it a rest

Karen needs to apologise for calling you lot racists, not to me because I am racist towards lazy people .........

Thank you, John, ignore why, she is happy to throw comments at others or have a dig at me (claiming to have me on ignore) yet often makes no direct comment but comment about me.

Be it my looks, cars, SUV, character, family, home., or my Dyslexia which has been done a number of times!

I treat people as they treat me and she gets back similar to what she has the habit of making comments on others on here.

Calling people on here racists without ANY understanding of their background or commitment towards the subject is not only wrong but ignorant.
