Re: the 365 GT 2+2. I find it fascinating to consider the interior and engine bay images. The vehicle being approximately 5 years old then. No shiny chrome in the engine bay, nor overly glossy woodgrain on the dash and a light patina on the leather. To a grumpy old man like me, these types of cars just "pop" when you come across an unrestored example. They are far and few between however. I've been around cars all my adult life, I've never once walked past a restored car that's fooled me into thinking it was original.
I’m talking original cars that have been kept in good condition, not cars that have suffered years of neglect and deferred maintenance. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
On my watch well maintained ....serviced,new radiator and pipes, exhaust headers repaired ,iginition box replaced .
it was pity the previos owner had painted the seats ! When I got the car the seats were dry and well not far away from cracking o the leather service ,I spent many hours feeding the seats hide food ,while the seats became soft again the blue paint came off and the seats ended up looking like they do in the photo , pity as the car was then retrimmed in a cheap local leather rather than the correct hides ..
Yeah, i was horrified when I saw the “new” interior, just fkn horrible. Nothing worse than a retrim done on the cheap.
and the correct hides are available ..the new owner a friend should have stripped the old hides and than repainted ,it would have lasted a good few years ..
Hello Carl888, thank you for sharing these amazing pictures. Can you share more history with me. Could you please message me.
Hello, I just found this site and post. I am thrilled to see your pictures and it has bought back memories. You are right about not wanting to loose the history. My dad tells so many amazing stories.I have often thought how much I wold love to write a book about the first 75 years of Ferrari in Australia. I did reach out to the Ferrari club as I thought they too would be keen. Thank you again I am loving your post. Kind regards, Victoria Lowe daughter of Peter Lowe, son of Ralph Lowe
THANK YOU!!!!! for your family's involvement Vicki because, quite obviously, pretty much none of us would be here!!
Welcome Vicki, and thanks for the message. I don't have much to add unfortunately to what's already been posted. I was 10 when W. H. Lowe Automobiles relinquished their Ferrari representation. However I had a great friendship with Michael Barker, perhaps you recall him? You can contact me on 0434 768 308. I can put you in touch with some of the prior staff from those days if you wish. Or better, round up a few Lowes and I'll put a lunch on, would be a laugh with JA holding court!!
