Not my car, don't know the sellers even though they are local, I've never heard of them. Just popped up on CL here in Denver: https://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/d/denver-1994-ferrari-348-spider/7657334608.html 1994 348 spyder (convertible) Grey/Black 54k miles Recent service MANY MODs $82.5k Sorry, but my vote is "ummmm.... no!"... WHY do you make an FCar look like a ricer? Sold by a dealer who specializes in JDM cars. hmmmmm.... Apologies to the owner if he/she is here. It's your car, do as you want, but I think many prefer stock over "pimped". James Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's very Japanese and very much part of the fetishization of the 70s/80s racecar aesthetic and the 80s\90s in general. The looks are subjective, of course, but I'm sure everything objective is trash -- the ride, the handling, the quality of the interior, the maintenance.
I'm with you on that... I get why people did it and what that whole scene was about, I think it's a bit absurd and I'm in no danger of doing it and absolutely, I'll bet driving it is horrific now. But the point was never driving, it was all about parking it.
And there is no way that car was "well received" among the Ferrari community like it says in the add.
Carry on guys, only adds value to our cars!! That's hideous, but I get the culture and what its all about...
What’s “ricer” about it (btw pretty dated and offensive term)? He has air ride and put a deep corn wheel on the car… the wheel being closer likely improves driving feel. I guess we could critique the seats but that’s not an egregious misstep imo Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
… care to elaborate? The ergonomics of the cabin can definitely be improved for long legged individuals by getting the wheel closer to your chest Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Oh, I thought you were talking about the wheels that spin. I don’t know what a “deep corn wheel” is so I assumed you were talking about the ones at all four corners.
It’s in reference to a deep dish steering wheel. 19s won’t help ride but I don’t think many would openly criticize everyone who mounts 19s, again not an egregious sin. The only controversial mod I see here is the air ride and yes, different strokes and all that. It’s not my thing but it’s far from what I would categorize as “ricer” considering the E Class has been on air ride for 20 years now… Are Citroen SMs for ricers? Idk why I’m ranting but I guess I don’t see this car as deserving to be put on blast by the community Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
So all that and the BIG win in that car is moving the steering wheel closer to the chest? I mean people out here do it all the time. No one is criticizing that except maybe the choice of steering wheel, its the rest of what was done to the car that is offensive to most. The whole point of that suspension is to park it "stanced" not to make it actually drive better. Many drive with it super low too. I think its funny your equating Range Rovers and Mercedes Air suspension etc to cars that are purposely "Stanced" WITH air suspension as if they share anything at all other than air. Not sure the community is "putting it on blast", are you a radio DJ? We all "get it" Some just don't like it. Folks are entitled to not like something I suppose.
I’m not claiming the car is a win… definitely not the “pimp my ride” loss that we’re blasting it for. I’d take issue if the car was stanced by cutting springs. Air ride has utility. And please what else is so terrible? The seats? The ad includes the OEM lol. I’m criticizing the bad nature of this post. You wanna get triggered and clutch pearls over modded F cars then look away from challenge cars. I’m not here for a big win, just criticizing dedicating a post to a car you’re trying to lob old hat and borderline offensive insults at Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
It’d be like hammering spikes into a park bench and then claiming it performs better that way. It looks cool to some people. That’s it. These arguments go off the rails when defenders try to justify it’s anything more than a visual fetishization.
I mean you can also raise the car to better maneuver driveways and the like. Air ride tends to be perfectly comfortable from a ride standpoint as well. The car will lose some agility and there’s a minor weight penalty but I fail to see how it’s a tragic mod. IMO dudes running their coil overs in a lowered setting are harming their car potentially more than this thing is Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Again, maybe it’s a soft ride, but that’s wasn’t the point. No one did this to their car because they wanted a soft ride. Please stop.
My point is that air ride doesn’t constitute roasting the car. Modding for shallow pursuit or not. The side strakes have no purpose either, let’s quit pretending that visual impact has nothing to do with what we value in the cars. Poopooing this car because they made a mod for vain reasons is a bit hypocritical Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Your arguments are thin and feel disingenuous and juvenile. I’ve grown tired of this thread. Whatever.
The whole point of it is to stance it. Google "Stanced cars", maybe that's the issue your not understanding there is a whole Stanced sub culture. After that, let's stop pretending its equivalent to modern air suspension cars like a Range Rover. The point is to park it on the ground. Not sure E-Class cars do that? Mods are not the issue, People here change steering wheels, brakes, suspension, wheels, steering wheels seats all the time. Challenge cars are however... not stanced. Clutching pearls. How absurd. The issue is likely not that its a 348, but rather its all stanced cars, much like Low riders with skinny wheels, not for liked by many outside that sub culture either but we get it, its an art form. Last I heard art is to be critiqued. Its actually part of it. More people revile the better they did. Now me personally... I am all for those that do it to keep doing it, Its hideous though. I am entitled to that opinion. no really I am. I actually go to low rider shows btw, the work is amazing, I don't want one and think its absurd but I appreciate the artistry and passion 100%. Stanced cars not so much. I hope the guy gets his asking price btw, he clearly though it was a good idea at some point, perhaps someone else will too.
Does it mention which episode of Farce&Fairyusser inspired it? Does it have NAWWWWZ? A little neon hidden under the fenders? Inquiring minds want to know (for the laughs)
I’m very familiar with the stance scene. I also think we’re getting nearer to common ground with your reply. I also have no interest in air ride. I just took issue with the premise of the original post. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I get it. Were all good. there is something oddly nice about it. Again, not my bag baby.. but I get it. I know a few guys out here on the forum really like that thing on Ferrari's. There is room for us all. Heck some guy painted a huge Dolphin on the side on his 348. Its why they make Chocolate and Vanilla! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Its an interesting build for sure, I've seen a lot more modded Ferraris in the last 5 years but this one takes it to a whole new level
