It would be very encouraging if the people making the rules were smart enough to actually put some plan together :D

Not so long ago all petrol engines were to be replaced by diesel ones (because diesel engines produce less CO2); now - even before the forced switch to EV - everything is done to make diesel uneasy to live with, from removing tax advantages to adding the unwieldy Adblue treatment...

My take is that the 23 car was a turd from day one, but there was nothing that could be changed. Once they built the chassis everything else pretty much had to fit in/on that. Ferrari knew it all along. I hope they scrapped everything but the engine. I hope at Monza they crank what ever additional engine they have to 11. At least go out right.

And by the time the 2024 campaign is over, they'll be absolutely crystal clear about how best to set up that car and what needs to be done for 2025. Rinse and repeat.

I don't have a huge amount of confidence things will go well, given the recent years of promises and underperformance.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Sainz is underappreciated at Ferrari, constantly bashed in favour of Charles the messiah...I think attitudes are slowly turning. Sainz may not be god's gift, but he has proven time and time again that his racecraft is light years ahead of Leclerc's.

Good luck to him at Audi if he goes

There's always talk of how Ferrari should move their operations to the UK, but another option for Ferrari that never gets discussed is: Dallara.

Dallara are in Italy and have a track record of success since the late 90's. It's not the Dallara that failed in F1 in 91'. Audi outsourced major development of their LMP cars to Dallara when they had their program at Le Mans. Dallara ran off all the other constructors in Indycar and many lower formula classes. Cadillac has used Dallara for their prototypes in America, and they've been winning IMSA titles. And oh yeah, Ferrari also have a great track record with Dallara themselves. They partnered with them for the classic 333sp, and of course, the recent hypercar 499SP beast that just won the 24 Hours Of Le Mans.

That is the kind of talent that works at Dallara. Audi saw it, Cadillac saw it, and Ferrari have seen it themselves. I see no reason why Dallara talent couldn't either be recruited, or some kind of partnership be created between the firms, where Dallara can help design and develop the aereas of the car that Ferrari lack experienced talent for.

You could be right there! Some car manufacturers use specialised workshops nowadays to run their F1 program.
    Renault/Alpine has the Enstone team.
Mercedes took over the Brawn team
Audi bought Sauber to enter F1, etc ...
None of they insisted creating cars themselves, and they were not shy to locate their team in a different country either.
A Dallara-designed Ferrari F1 could be the solution, who knows ...

Yes, they do. But is it the design, or just building the car (chassis) ?

Nothing stops them working for several clients, as long as they do not share the same IP and the designs are different.

They already work for several clients Le Mans programs in partnership roles for both Ferrari and Cadillac. As for Haas, their role is mostly construction now. They did help the Haas technical departments early car designs, then Haas used ex-Ferrari employees for their design team, and well ... I think we see how that's going.

All of the successful racing teams outsource part or even all of the design and construction of their cars, and/or have them built in entirely different nations. There's no shame in doing it at all. Toyota build their race cars in Germany, Peugeot have been partners with Oreca and Ligier for years. Mercedes are built entirely in England. Red Bull have been having a partner supply their engines. 100% of the car being designed and constructed in-house has always been rare, and is mostly a thing of the past these days.

No reason Ferrari can't partner with Dallara like they do for their prototypes. Just having Dallara help them construct bodywork would streamline their development process overnight and allow for faster delivery to the track.

    Tifosi would not care.
