Hi, I bought this 348 targa top, thinking it will fit my F355. It doesn't (It could fit if swapping the rubbers, but I prefered to find a 355 roof and that's what I did). So, now I'm offering this 348 targa top for sale. Few minor blemishes but overall condition is very good. Latches are the late model (same as 355 ones). Asking 2800€ + shipping. How old is this top ? Does it come with the rubber liners ?’I can give yiu a decent offer if you can give me an estimated cost of shipping to Qld. 4217 Australia ? Thank s
I have no idea about its age. I bought it this year. I don't know what do you mean by "rubber liners" but as you can see on pics it is complete with all its rubber parts ready to fit on your 348. I have to double check dimensions after packing, but if those are correct, shipping to Australia should be around €350- €400.
@Actualiser, I gave you a shipping quote, both here and in private message. Let me know if still interested. Thank you.
All right. Let me know if you change your mind later. It might still be available as I have not received any offers yet and I'm not in a rush.
@radback Is it possible to show us if it’s possible to install it on 355 ? And see where there could be a problem with rubbers ? Thanks
I guess it could be done. I didn't want to alter the rubbers of this 348 targa so I searched a 355 one instead. If I hadn't find one, I would have certainly try. There is some metal parts in the rubbers at the back that are too long and prevent the targa to seat correctly on a 355. They're touching the B pillars. (it left a mark on mines after my try to fit the roof on the car) Sorry no pictures as I don't want to try again and damage my b-pillar covers any more. Trust me it can't be fitted as it is. It might be possible by altering the end of the rubber supports, but I didn't try. Best way would be to order 355 rubbers and support, I'm pretty sure they would fit as the roof panel seems identical between 348 and 355.
I'm not sure the roof panels are identical. I purchased a 348 roof a while back from AllFerrariParts and with the latches off, the 348 targa top did not fit my 355 (they actually thought it was for a 355 and I had to point out the different 348 handles). If I remember correctly, the front contours were slightly different, the latches didn't quite align properly, and it also didn't seat correctly with the top of the windows on my 355, so I returned it. You might have better luck than me, though. Beautiful roof and good luck!
There is two types of latches. First type are leather. Seconds are metal (same as 355). Mines are same as 355. I don't think there is any major differences in front of panel as some 348 guys could fit a 355 roof on their car. For me the most obvious difference is in the side rubbers.
I forgot: there is a minor difference on the roof panel at the front of the latches, but nothing that prevent 348 owners to fit a 355 roof as some members did here. 355 targa over 348 targa Image Unavailable, Please Login This is the only difference I noticed on the roof panel. Again, big differences are in the rubbers and rubber mounts.
Thanks, try to install 348 roof on your 355 and show us where problems with rubbers could exist. Thanks
Again, you have a beautiful roof! From personal experience, however, the 348 roofs (hard top and folding fabric roof) did not fit on my 355. The metal latches are different - the 348 latch tongue is rounded and has a different receptacle plate above the window area. But the latches were not the main issue... The bigger issue for me was it was hard to get the roof on past the receptacle plates above the windshield (I even tried purchasing 348 roof plates for my 355)... the latches seemed a little misaligned... and the windows came up around 1/2" shy of the targa top. Also, the front didn't quite fit snugly, but I've heard that the 355 roofs may fit the 348... not sure what's going on there! I really don't want to impair your chances at selling your roof to a prospective 355 owner, but I spent many years trying to find a black targa top for my 355 and tried different 348 targas. Shipping is expensive and I just want a prospective purchaser to be aware of the potential issues and set proper expectations (I had to pay over $250 for return shipping for the 348 roof I returned - however, they did give me a credit towards future purchases). That said, maybe something was different with my car or the 348 roofs that I tried. My experience may have been way off! If I am wrong and anyone has had a different experience, please post and/or let me know as I would gladly give the 348 roof another try with that new info (and pls let me know what you had to do to get the roof to fit). Good luck with selling your beautiful roof and to any prospective buyer. Anyway, just trying to be helpful and I won't bother you guys with any more posts on this! No problem To be clear, I'm selling this 348 roof for a 348. I just said it should fit a 355 if fitted with 355 rubbers seals. It should, not it would: no warranties. It is at buyer risk. I tried to fit it on my 355 and rear end of the rubbers supports were blocked by the B-pillar so I couldn't lock both latches because of that and I made a mark in my pillars so no I won't try again with those rubbers. Ideally I should remove the rubber metal mounts to try again, but they're riveted and I don't want to do this on a perfectly functionnal 348 targa. I prefer to sell this top for a 348 owners. I'm sure one of them with a painted roof will looking for a stock targa some day PS: and you're right, at least one owner of a 348 fitted a 355 roof on his 348 here just by cutting a piece of rubber in front, that's why I think the roof panel is the same shape. It is just a side rubber problem in my opinion.
I won't be able to ship the roof after mid september until end of november, so if you hesitate and want it fast, you know what to do...
