Please read my post above as to why MERC couldn't pit (and if they had why they still would have lost). I had no expectation that the race would finish 'under green' except possibly for the safety car pealing off into the pits on the final lap and the cars processing across the line.

If Massi (and the teams) were determined to finish with the cars racing, he should have thrown a red and restarted after the wreckage was cleared: that would have been more than RB deserved given that they were comprehensively beaten in the race up to that point, but it would have given them a chance.

Surely if you are Race Director and you have committed (conspired?) to finish the race with the teams racing, you should have a strategy worked out in advance to deal with a SC very close to the end of the race?

 

Do you know how old Lewis's tires were at the end of the race? Just curious is all.

 

the same discussion as been had a million times. No side is ever going to agree on if it was right or not or whatever.

However, the notion that Lewis couldn't have pitted is utterly false. He could have, Mercedes just didn't do it.

Agreed. Again, listen to Hamilton's radio (long before Masi made any unlapping decisions) ... even Hamilton knew it was a huge mistake.

Formula one fan since 1985-1986 I have to say my deep admiration for Max Verstappen as a driver.
What he’s achieving since 2021 is absolutely outstanding and should not be a commonplace.
For sure the RB19 is a fantastic machine and Max is exploiting it 100% but …
Perez is no slouch, a GP winner, a very tough driver we all know this..
Verstappen is simply destroying him like Checo was a F4 rookie driver put in a car too quick for him.
Ferrari is nowhere this year with a car they don’t understand..
A painful year again for a tifoso like me.
This should not prevent us from appreciating at its fair value the level reached by this unbelievable Max.

 

No penalty, ROFL. F1 is corrupted big time. RB runs the show.
