    He got pole! When I interviewed him and we discussed it he was really thrilled about that one, an unexpected result at the autodromo where he watched Ascari as a kid before emigrating to the new world.

    Yes, Ferrari usually had something special for Monza in those days. And 1982 had been a devastating year…Villeneuve dead, Pironi’s career ended by crash injuries. The race was won by Arnoux (Renault) who had just signed with the Scuderia for the next season, so in a way it was a Ferrari podium…Arnoux, Tambay, Andretti. ;)

    this gate I remember also when I have been at maranello in 1983. more important would have been to look/go behind this gate ;)
    but of course not at that sad day on the 8th of may and also not the coming future days.
