Well I thought I'd get in a dive on the barrier reef before the inevitable, on Hayman island Bought all my gear bar tank and weight belt and pay for the experience on Saturday No query for doctor's certificate, qualifications, experience, time since last dive, etc Day before dive I get an SMS at 5pm asking to sign a waiver, this is mostly about getting their money if I don't show, fair enough, but also a link to a questionnaire re health status which I answered truthfully and then at 8:16pm I get another SMS asking for medical certificate!!!WTF I should have been asked this on the day I booked and told them my medical status Young girl taking the booking was not a certified diver , had no idea what size tank (I need an 88 as I drink a tank dry quickly), if they were using two regulators or dive locations ...... I was told she's a senior operator So I get suited up this morning, get to the dive office and get told I can't dive !!!!! Then they try to put the blame on me !!! FFS, tell the devil he's a #### , it's easier!!! So, 4 days I could have easily got a medical certificate but was not requested until the NIGHT before, and remember, I've just got back from diving Galapagos with the sea lions with no problem but I can understand that they need one but ask with enough time to get one They said I could go for a snorkel, big whoop, it's like saying you want one last drive on a racetrack but you can only go if Horse drives!!!!! FMD, if I want to go slow I'll do it myself
I was very diplomatic but portrayed my displeasure at their unprofessional behavior I always carry bail for these circumstances
Just got an SMS saying I need a medical certificate even if I want to go snorkeling!!!! FMD, now I'm an invalid and will need a medical certificate for driving soon if it was up to these people
You can probably just snorkel off the beach on your own; or just hire a boat to take you out to the reef if it’s too far to swim, Enjoy the water whatever you end up doing! Don’t let the dickheads get you down.
My ex-wife was a Divemaster Certificate .....? Done it all reefs all over the Pacific (aircraft and shipwrecks ) Night diving -CAVE diving !...Under ice -Deep sea . Even worked and dived with Fabien Cousteau off the ship Cousteau Foundation had in the late 1990s for over a month (the best month alone I ever had! I can ask her what the issue would be, as she is like Greg carries the title Doctor, and is the senior professional advisor for ...., NO fool.
Forget about diving or anything that can put your lungs at risk. You're on immunotherapy which means you have about a 5% chance of developing pneumonitis at any time during your treatment. Pneumonitis (lung inflammation) can rapidly progress to respiratory failure. Go do laps in the 355 instead
Thanks mate but I am trying to get a dive in while I'm fit and healthy Diver ever since I was 30 and my lungs are good but if you think it's not worth the risk ......
I was told by an eminent doctor in liver cancer I'm not going to beat this plus heart surgery tomorrow for blockages, it never rains ..... Well done on beating it Rob
