I totally agree, I do not want the F167 to look like a big Roma, and I have nothing against the Roma ,I think its a beautiful design. I just don't want the new V12 to look like it. Hopefully the new car will have a totally unique shape.

Sustained Mach 3+ flight did shorten the Tumanskys' life span, but they didn't need replacement after just one top speed run. Anyway, that problem was solved with the new Solovievs, in the 31.

Jets are redundant IMO. Already there with drone's and next the drone's will have no missiles as they will just use laser weapons. Flip I never thought I would see parts of Terminator become a reality in my life-time !!!

But we digress from the real topic - I hope the car is shown this year !!

Lockheed A-12 - Lockheed YF-12 (There are a few other model # but these are the important 2 before the 3rd the Blackbird) YF-12 The interceptor was developed during the late 1950s and early 1960s as a potential replacement for the F-106 Delta Dart interceptor for the United States Air Force (USAF). The YF-12 was a twin-seat version of the then-secret single-seat Lockheed A-12 reconnaissance aircraft operated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); unlike the A-12, it was furnished with the Hughes AN/ASG-18 fire-control radar and could be armed with AIM-47 Falcon (GAR-9) air-to-air missiles. Its maiden flight was on 7 August 1963. Its existence was publicly revealed by President Lyndon B. Johnson on 24 February 1964; this move was to provide plausible deniability for the CIA-operated A-12 fleet, which closely resembled the prototype YF-12. Then Came the SR-71 Blackbird.

All these amazing aircraft had the same basic design and concept all from Lockheed all done within a 10 year period They were more updaed versions than new models. This all started under the CIA R&D Program called Oxcart in the 1950s and the 1960s. Also at least one of the models could be armed. The MiG-25 was a one shot pony. The public only really know the name Blackbird from all of this. but the version before are even more important.

Agree with you - have never really liked the Roma - for my taste it’s a very bland style and I really don’t like the iPad like display which just looks like an afterthought (but that’s true of many cars). Will be interesting to see what Ferrari come up with. My hopes would be smaller, lighter weight, no haptic controls and a better integrated screen.

Ferrari is adding its voice to the protest, through CEO Benedetto Vigna, who was very clear about Ferrari's strategy: "Ferrari is firmly committed to becoming a zero-carbon carmaker by the end of this decade." The prancing-horse automaker becomes another carmaker to tackle the new environmental standard - Euro 7. According to Vigna, his company has no plans to produce engines that meet harmful emissions requirements in Europe, but will instead focus on electrifying its model range. "Our goal is to produce unique electric Ferraris, and we think it's essential to focus on that. If we continue to chase Euro 7 as planned, we will divert attention from our business and our suppliers, and we won't be able to use all the technologies that will allow us to create a unique Ferrari. We don't need any detours from the road.

Still they just source the motor and battery from elsewhere. To be unique, car has to be built ground up. Especially the internals. Unique battery chemistry and breakthrough motor output… and achieve weight figure like none other…

Pretty sure I will not ever purchase an EV Ferrari. Perhaps a hybrid but no EV. And I am in no way a “purist”…

"Our goal is to produce unique electric Ferraris,..."

Prediction: That's it, game over. Sure, its nice to dream, but in reality, Ferrari will cease, there is almost zero interest in current all EV super/hyper cars (noting the extremely low output numbers), certainly insufficient to sustain 10,000+ production of $500K+ cars that likely will be riddled with unbearable flaws/malfunctions.

    @j09333 :

Dreaming is nice, but, laws of physics resonant...no matter, no way Ferrari will ever have anything coming close to an "electric motor breakthrough" or "weight figure like none other"

You do not get something for nothing, with gasoline, the car only has to carry 'half' (or less) of the weight of the fuel, the rest comes directly from the air it breathes (for combustion).

With electric, the entire weight of the "fuel" must be carried including a substantial enclosure to chemically store. There will be no breakthrough, that's already been tried by numerous well funded organizations.

I think what @day355 is saying is this, the F167, is the final new V12 model?

It's quite a challenge. But when Ferrari began, he sold race cars to a selected few. Then it was technology derived from racing. Im pretty sure there were those upset at fuel injection, turbo charging, automatics (the GM 3 speed- please!), cup holders, CarPlay, etc.

But yes, this is different because the heart of the car has always pulsed. Now it will just spin with digital precision. Really, how can you feel that? I have my doubts.

    However...

You know what they say- change is the only constant.

They also say the more things change the more they stay the same.

So this is the challenge- how to adapt a technology that seems so foreign to the core. I struggle to see how they will meet it, I try to keep an open mind, difficult though it is for me to imagine, but, maybe they will surprise us.

They also say never say never.

I predict people will just shift their passion elsewhere. It may be boats, planes, real estate etc but if you’re not stirred by something the passion will fade and so will the brand. I have zero interest in electric cars, happy to just drive a Toyota at that point and keep a garage full of character and move on to other new endeavors.

This is the most terrifying quote I’ve ever read by a Ferrari executive. I don’t care what anyone says electrics do not engage the soul. I had the opportunity to drive a Rimac Nevera a few weeks ago. The car was beyond insanity re acceleration. It tips the scales at over 5000 lbs and you can feel it. The strange noises and synthetic feel just don’t generate excitement regardless that this machine is a technological masterpiece.
The following week I had a chance to get a ride on track in a Hennessey F5 revolution. If someone could manage to turn satan into a car, John Hennessy did it. The car is visceral, raw, and stirs and scares the soul and makes you feel alive.
All this to say is no electric car out of Maranello or anywhere else will compare to ICE cars.

Felt the same way about driving a Taycan Turbo S. Insane acceleration to match the insane curb weight. Didn’t enjoy it.

Mark my words: once the greenies get an all electric car fleet by the major players they will push to the next level- limit battery size and motor power because the source materials and manufacturers of these items pollute the environment.
In California the power distribution companies want to be able to tap into your charging car at times of peak power demand and reverse the charge- take your paid for electricity and leave you with a depleted car the next morning. Yeah you get your money back but there will be electric loses both ways as you try to recharge again. In the meantime you will be forced to take public transportation or bike to work.
Horse and buggy won’t be allowed- horses are too polluting and PETA will not allow it.
This is a societal psychological disease where everyone is trying to save the planet (the planet will save itself and humans as a species will be long gone)but the real problem is the world has become overpopulated and resources are becoming scarcer.
Global warming is the existential threat but the next world war is the real threat. Meanwhile our feckless leaders of the west are pandering to the small but vocal crowd and appeasing them with cellphones, social networking, special coffee, wind farms which kill birds and whales and destruction of the ICE machines by mandate not by market forces.
