Gravy! [emoji2] Took my wife a couple of years of marriage before she stopped calling it sauce and started calling it gravy. Yours looks awesome. T
Saw a Jacques Pepin episode ~20 years ago wherein he made a quick and easy Shrimp Burger. We had leftover buns from our last hamburger night, and we had leftover frozen shrimp from that Fish & Shrimp Terrine we recently made, and thus the old memory of him making shrimp burgers popped into my mind... It was pretty easy and surprisingly yummy, like most of his recipes. (I riffed on his recipe by adding a few things and made up a sauce of mayo, ketchup, honey mustard, tabasco and chives). Out-of-towners visiting, along with need to clear out the fridge and freezer a bit before upcoming extended travels means the smoker thingy comes out. Half a brisket and a couple slabs of ribs with scratch Mac n cheese and seared sweet white corn. Damn, the meats were melty tender. Pre-birthday (yesterday) meal at the local diner - they said last lobster rolls of the summer - I said be right there... This time I also got the chef's take on an uprated Wedge salad. Was great, like everything he puts his mind too. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Birthday dinner at home on a warm-ish beautiful evening with my two favorite blondes…one cooked one of my favorite meals: - Fennel-Apple-Parmesan Salad - Risotto ala Milanese (topped with sautéed shrimp) - Peche Cardinal (Peaches with Raspberry-Grand-Marnier sauce and Creme Chantilly) …the other begged nearby… Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Finally got a cheapo fryer off of someone on FaceBook that lives locally, so every once-in-a-while my wife asks for Fish and Chips (complete with mushy peas) in memory of our time living in London. We don't have great fish markets here, so had to make do with frozen Cod and Pollack, but made our own tartar sauce with dill from the garden and used our garden mint in the mushy peas. Got the potatoes from a guy just over the border in Idaho, so you know they were good...did a beer batter for the fish with cajun seasoning in it. Was all pretty yummy. I had never fried anything in my life before we got this $20 fryer. Now that I see how easy it is, I wonder why restaurants can't get their fries crispy!
