Rubbish - it is simply a welcome to Australia; most foreigners probably think it is quite a nice gesture... I truly do not understand how anyone can object to being WELCOMED somewhere. If the announcement was a 15 minute litany of the historical grievances he might have a point. People flying in to Australia (on all carriers) have to sit through 10-15 minutes of Australia’s quarantine rules.
It's been done to the extent that it's helped destroy ANY chance the YES vote had of being given the majority to get over the line. And I for one am HAPPY about that. I go to the football to enjoy a sport and socialize with people I know at the ground - NOT to be force-fed this BS. It's a con job by the left that so many people including those who should know better have accepted as the NORM
Another OLD hag across the road has put up the YES vote sign, wonder if she has ............ EVER Met a true Aboriginal, donated time or money to those in need in the outback, guess NOT just another privileged white woman, telling the Aboriginals what is good for 'em .
I truly don’t understand how you can not see that constantly welcoming someone to their own country in a way that implies they are a visitor and therefore NOT an equal is not only offensive but obviously racist. And nothing like a bit of exaggeration, eh? I’ve been overseas several times this year and the spiel about quarantine goes for 60-90 seconds at most, and unlike welcome to country it actually has a point.
Correct its what I'm seeing around here ,all these old people with nothing in the lives ,one last hurrah before they die .
Seriously NFI, but keep on trolling from Treviso It’s not a Welcome to Country, it’s Acknowledgement of Country. FFS, do you even understand the difference. How is that welcoming at all. Why do you even post on here? (Rhetorical)
What annoys me the most re The Welcome to Country being played on the aircraft is.........I fly up the front end of the aircraft I don't need to be educated re Welcome to my Country and the land and the millions of years,I'd much prefer it was ONLY played to the people in Cattle class
The Qantas customers get it ONE time when they are arriving in Australia, and a chunk of the people on that plane ARE visitors. Coming back 2 weeks ago, the quarantine guys did a physical walkthrough, certainly wasn’t a 90 second delay in disembarking. Flight ex SIN.
Back in Coolum! Missed my welcome / acknowledgement since I didn’t fly QANTAS (website was down when I went to make my bookings ). SQ instead. You should talk to a few of the people visiting Aus - you’d be surprised how many are fascinated by Aboriginal history and want to see places like Uluru.
They actually do an acknowledgement, not a welcome to country If you guys are going to argue and bicker at least get the argument right ffs I hate both welcome and acknowledgement
Too funny BUT TRUE. I often put her on ignore and then take her off ignore for a laugh ! "Why do you even post on here ? Sad and lonely I suggest. But keep posting Kerrari , even though the posts are boring and so often incorrect.
Rubbish-I've never met ANYONE in all the many O/S holidays and work times I've been to the UK, Europe, Asia, The States, and Scandinavia. You're a Troll and get a kick out of the 180degree turn on all matters posted here
Jesus, Karen, you really have NFI. I get a welcome to country when I fly on a 45 seat aircraft from Adelaide to Whyalla - a distance of 200km. How many foreigners do you think are on that aircraft? If it was only on international aircraft and done in a general “Welcome to Australia” way it might make sense while being rather cringeworthy. However, it is done in a purely indigenous fashion welcoming us to “their” country and paying our respects to “their” ancestors. **** that. What about my ancestors, some of whom fought and died for this country? MY country. It is racist divisive fake BS.
