    All,
What are people's opinion on this car that came up on BAT and didn't meet the reserve.
Personally I think an unmolested car whether it be F1 or gated is better left as it came.
I'm still shocked at how much someone was willing to pay, your thoughts?

I don't even have to go to the link. Personally, I'd NEVER pay a premium for a gated converted car, even if all factory parts were used and Enzo himself rose from the grave and performed the conversion himself.

IMO, it does not make any sense to convert a low mile example. Converted cars are meant to be driven. This conversion just negated the premium from never driving the thing. No collector will want this. Would make more sense to convert it back to original, sell it for a premium, and use the conversion parts for a mid-high mileage driver

It was a nicely specced, low mileage car. Had a couple flaws, could have been detailed better, and I don’t understand the black steering wheel trim. The lack of any service records might have kept some from bidding higher. Most converted cars have been selling ballpark what non-converted cars are selling for given similar condition/specs/miles so I would say it’s a bit high when compared to the 4,700 mile 08 Spider that sold for $168K, which was in slightly better shape, more highly optioned and had full service records.

No collector wants this is right…imagine being the guy at the Ferrari event with the “fake manual.”
I’d hate telling everyone that says “omg it’s a manual” ehh I converted it, it’s not original. It’s like seeing a replica Shelby, COPO Camaro, etc.

Bat and the car market is like the stock market. One day it's good and one day it's bad.. drive your car ,enjoy your car and don't nickel and dime when trying to sell.

I thought it was good money for the car, and should have sold. The auction going live presenting it as a factory gated car, that the comment section then pointed out it wasn’t, probably didn’t help.

Given how some like to rag on conversions being fake and worthless I’m looking forward to the day I can pick up a converted 360 CS for significantly under market, given that it’s been molested and all. Oh wait, that will never happen. :D

I think some people forget that conversions are literally swapping auxiliary parts (no different than swapping headers, seats, radio, wheels, or anything else between aftermarket and stock), and can be converted back when the day that F1 F430’s skyrocket… oh wait, that will also never happen. :D

    Overpriced IMO.

I wouldn't want a 16 year old car that has been driven only a few hundred miles a year ever.

It's a converted car and not factory. Great for an owner to actually drive, but wouldn't expect that to bring a premium at all.

At that mileage it was a collector car where originally trumps mods. Anything other than stock kills the value. The conversion was a waste of money

Hey, the old guys have the money and can afford to relive their youth. When I was looking to buy around 2013 the gated cars, though few, were about 20k-30k more. Had I gone after the 360 I'd definitely gotten a gated however with the F430 I felt F1 was the way to go and I have no regrets. Interestingly on a related note the Ferrari that was not considered a Ferrari (246, 6-cylinder,dino badge) now sell for about twice what the 512 V12 go for. That is what makes it interesting when cars that in their time were not valued much, shoot through the stars 20-30 years later.

Anyone know what is the price to convert at EAG.?
I agree with many of you its only original once...does this conversion really warrant that much more.?
That shift knob needs to be corrected.!

If you look at the process of converting an F1 to a manual it is fairly straightforward and with the exception of the brake pedal, if you decide to cut it, everything can be reversed. I was surprised to see all the existing bolts are already there just remove and replace. So save all your F1 parts! I'm sure they will be valuable in the future or if you ever decide to convert it back. The Dr. S kits look to be the best on the market at this time, in my opinion, and fairly priced.
