Yeah, I saw that one. Ferrparts has the same one for 2500.00 and they said that they have 2 in stock, so I would opt to buy theirs. That extra connection is the nav antenna (which mine has, or I think it had it, now I don't remember because I never used it and I have yet to remove the radio, LOL! I mean why use it anymore when you have a phone right?!?!) I really don't care for the nav either since I would be fine with just a working radio. I think that we are going to learn a lot from this situation and uncover some realities that could hit 458 owners in the near future.

I completely agree about the navigation, only thing that might affect is the resale of the car but like you said, who really uses it. I’ve seen it in these cars and would never use it, even if I had it. I did not see the two available from Ferrparts, I’m assuming they are listed on eBay? I’m going to try to find them but I’ll save one for you, lol. I also agree about uncovering this situation which I think is or could be more common than people realize, just based off our two plus other posts about it. The only other option I’ve found would be to add an aftermarket amplifier paired with a Bluetooth module but then you wouldn’t be able to control the radio or change tracks with the main control or steering wheel controls. I sent Opuradio another message on FB but they are a bit slow to respond and it’s very broken English, however I hope to hear something back soon. I don’t know where you’re at but you’d think there would be someone in the US that would work on them. If they can be repaired in China, someone out there knows how to fix them. My local guy just didn’t have all of the hardware it would take to bench it. I’m still tempted to reach out to Harman/Becker but I’m afraid that will be a long shot.

The Ferrparts units may not be listed, but when I called it in they said they had two of them. I haven't really diagnosed mine yet, could be that stupid fuse that you can't even get to because it's sideways in the glove box, but I really doubt that it could be that simple. This wouldn't be the first high-priced part to be replaced on the car. When I test-drove the car at the dealership (I didn't buy this one new), the AC didn't work. I told them that I still wanted the car since it was super clean. So, they finally determined that the climate control module was bad and replaced it before selling me the car. I guess that it was at least a few grand for that part. I also had bad emission wash valves that had to be replaced, so that set me back a bit. Pretty reliable car for the most part compared to previous models. So even if I have to get a new one, it doesn't really matter to me. BTW, I am in Chino Hills, CA. Either way, you have a working one so you are way ahead of me! LOL!

It's not the ECU, it is the hard drive. I sent the unit out to a place in Syracuse New York and they replaced and reloaded the software. The radio works fine now.

Wow what a total PITA. On top of that their system stinks in the first place. Over time electronics in general kinda of suck. Myself, I never use any of it. Prefer to listen to the engine. You guys waged a good fight.

Can you please share where you sent your unit? Mine has shut down now and the aftermarket video and carplay is inoperative base on this issue. Thanks in advance.

The buttons do light up but as much as i press and hold the buttons nothing seems to come to life. Its weird as the bluetooth is working. Any help please ?

It's your NIT, it needs to be repaired and reflashed. It usually happens when you let the battery get too low.

@Fred Daniali can you confirm who you sent yours to? Was it "United Radio" like @USMCS6 suggested?

Just picked up a 458 that has this issue. It started happening literally as I drove off the lot. We pulled the battery for a bit to reset, but that made it worse (went from glitched display to black screen). After it sat overnight, it worked flawlessly for these last few days until the damn Bovee ran the battery down overnight Sunday. It's now returned to being blacked out, but I'm hopeful another night off will bring it back again.

I'm pretty technical and comfy with PC hardware. I would think I should be capable of pulling an image off of the HDD and replacing it (preferably with a SSD) if that's the real root cause.

Yes, United did my repair. It's best if you send them your entire radio rather than attempt it yourself. They also reflash the main board as well. If you are getting the black screen (where the bluetooth calls still work) or if you don't even get the warning screen at ignition on, then it is your NIT.

Yes, I sent mine off to United radio as per Fred's suggestion. They were very responsive and have my radio now. You want to email ahead of time to get instructions as to how and where to send it and all the necessary information. This is the contact person that I used at United radio. Lisa Stahl , [email protected]. She was very prompt and answered all emails. Good luck. I am still waiting on the return of mine so am unable to comment on the status of the repair.

Unfortunately there aren’t too many alternatives. Better than a new replacement for 15k. Thank goodness there is a repair source. That’s the good part. The cost is a bargain as far as Ferraris are concerned.

Yes, Radio works fine everything as it should but the Rt. screen works perfectly for about 20 min then goes blank. This has been a nightmare for the audio installer. It starts up again after leaving the car sit overnight as though nothing is wrong, then after about 20 min get a white screen then goes totally black. The radio continues to work with sounds etc, but if black, can't visualize the frt/rear cameras or apple car play, or any radio data, from HDD AM FM Ipod, or instrument or Speedo readout. The sound from the iPhone and apple carplay come in on the audio side but if screen is out there are no maps, cameras, texts etc. Has been a big PIA. The radio rebuild by United brought it back to life and gave back some video but we think the issue is still in the screen itself since the audios etc still work without the video. The installer is going to once again try to get FAI in Costa Mesa to re-evaluate the cluster and screens since they had refurbed it after it was trashed by the brake software upgrade from the 458 brake recall. That was a whole other mess. So there's that. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Well, its good to hear that United fixed it. The brake software reflash trashed the screens? I don't think that I have ever heard of that happening, but I have heard of people losing their screens. 9/10 times the refurbs don't work. You may need a new cluster.

yes brake software upgrade trashed cluster software since it had aftermarket video input prior. Learned the hard way. Several threads on That issue I sure hope I do not need anew cluster 10 k. I think I’ll abandon the idea of video if comes to that.

When you refer to the video, are you referring to adding an aftermarket backup camera?

I found your post about the issue. If they had to re-flash your cluster for an aftermarket then it may have caused issues when they reloaded the software for the brake issue. However, I have heard of folks losing their screens with or without any mods. I think that it is an issue with the cluster.

Yes front and rear cameras wired inputs and apple carplay videos for maps, musicinfo, phone calls, texting etc. I have one functional eye and a tight narrow single car garage for the car that I have to have the cameras to get in and out of garage with low depth perception close up. I have a half inch clearance on each side with mirrors folded so I have to line car up with a line on floor that I painted to get in and out of garage without damages. That is what started the whole mess adding the cameras and apple car play aftermarket.
