Is there a source to rent the HE end of stoke pin wrench? Paying $200+ for a wrench I'll use once or maybe twice is a little tough to swallow.

A lot of these special tools can be 3D printed in plastic. I just finished a belt job on my 360 and printed four special tools. Cost: $10.

How do you go about doing this? The tool you features in the other thread looks perfect.

If you have a picture of the existing tool, that can help a lot for reverse engineering. You'll need to have access to a CAD program that can create 3D models which is pretty much any, and then design the tool.

A digital caliper and inside and outside calipers are pretty much required for most jobs like this, and of course, access to a 3D printer.

Post a picture of the tool and the part it attaches to, and a description of what it's supposed to do, and I'll see if I can offer any other advice.

    A few thoughts...

    1. A plastic tool will not be man enough to undo end of stroke studs that have been siliconed in.
    2. Even the Hill wrench has a somewhat limited life (which can be extended by dressing the business end of the wrench). Having one of these tools as a rental probably wouldn't work for long.

If you want to remove the studs without the tool, cut the ends off the studs with a dremel and use a deep socket once the release bearing is out of the way. You'll need new studs but you'd probably need them anyway once you'd rounded them off with the wrench....

yes - cut them off with a Dremel and replace. That's how I ended up. I think there is also thread lock on them.

I did get new pins so cutting out the old ones is a good idea. But how do you then install the new ones?

I couldn't wait for the tool to arrive so I just welded one. I don't think a 3D printed one would work in this case.

Pretty much anything that's long, thin, and requires a lot of torque is way beyond what 3D printed plastic can do.

Has anyone tried a flex head wrench? Seems like that would work, although I haven't torn it apart yet. I'm guessing I'm not the first person to think of this, so prob not?

    It's a 13mm crow foot right?

Flex head won't work. There is very limited access to the 13mm headed bolt. You can't see it with my franken-tool but I ...
    1) Cut the end off the 13mm wrench
    2) Turned it 90 degrees and welded it back on the brake line wrench (that has 6 points of engagement)
    3) Ground off some of the end to make it thinner to clear access at the site
    4) Then welded on the little extension to give it 3/8 ratchet engagement so you can torque it.
