ATSIC was another brainchild of then PM Hawke in 1990 and disbanded /abolished by Howard in 2005 with agreement by the then opposition.

ATSIC its charter was for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to have full say in their lives going forward it replaced the ADC .

The Voice will fail and if it did will be another Labor failure.

 

Voice delegates will be appointed, not elected. How can you have an election when indigenous people themselves have many, many disputes about who is real or not?

Let us look at the history of the previous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission's and who led them.

1980 ADC led by Charles Perkins which also incorporated the land and finance commissions the commission had 10 board members ALL Aboriginal! and employed 100 staff mostly Aboriginal! Add to this NAC the board was made up of Aboriginals elected by 35 Aboriginal communities.

This commission operated out of Canberra, with 6 branches and 21 rural offices, and employed over 350 people. In 1990 it was incorporated into ATSIC and we all know how that ended! Oh, who was the 1st Commissioner CEO of that failure? "Lowitja O'Donoghue" Yes that one .

So cut out the arguing and bickering and understand THEY the Aboriginal and West Torres islanders have had their own decision-making process for decades.

It will never work to much hatred from coast to coast and island to island .

All have failed due to Greed corruption and mismanagement, and The Voice will be NO different.

Get a Torres islander group in the same room as Aboriginals from that side of the country, add those from the West, and throw some ideas around.

That is not as silly as it sounds - it’s the ORGANISATION of the traditional shelters that needs to be kept with updated to modern materials and facilities.

LOL re the last sentence - please explain how feminism affects employment law? No- the problem is now we have government departments making decisions on behalf of Aboriginal communities who are NEVER consulted directly. They have stuff (like the unsuitable housing) thrust upon them by bureacrats and ‘suppliers’.
The simple fact is they are a minority who just need a framework to be able to engage. They are too few and too scattered to be able to get heard in the ordinary run of parliament.
