488 Cracked rear diffuser around screw hole

While loosening on eof the 4mm Allen bolts on the rear diffuser, a crack occured. It was on there very tight from the dealer. (last one to take it off)

Will it get worse? It's a hairlime crack in the recess where the screw goes in. You can't see it, just don't wa t it to get worse of it can be repaired so that the crack doesn't get bigger

 

It's possible that the crack could migrate. I'd clean and sand the backside and apply and liberal coat of epoxy. Maxim is a high strength, quality automotive grade epoxy which I have used many times in the past. Helpful hint, it begins to set-up within a minute or two so apply the product accordingly. It will probably get worse. Mine did the same and eventually chipped off when some Mongoloid moron decided to run his finger nail over it.

I assume that the diffuser is made out of fiberglass material like the 458. If so, one of the things you can do is remove the diffuser and use bondo resin and cloth on the back of the diffuser to add some structural strength. I have done this with my under tray which had some places cracked from improper removal. The bondo resin and glass cloth is very strong and has a working time of about 15 minutes.

You are a man with extensive attention to detail! I have a few hairline cracks in mine. I figure I’ll get more and replace it when I sell it.

Again, I could care less about it. Just don't want it getting worse where it becomes visible. Somstrage that it cracked when loosening the bolt. Dealer had it on there really good

 

That would freak me out and upset me to the point of debating selling the car since I prob couldn't afford to buy a new diffuser.
