the demise of the Allante imo was the crap motor. They finally did the northstar in the last year, by which time it was dead. Plus Gm dashs from that era were ugh.

 

is this the actual car they're going to build, or another concept that will be so watered down by production time it will only sorta resemble what we see here.
A;so reads there will be an ice version, alas a TT inline 6, so it may be fast but wont have the v8 rumble which will then be pointless. Dropping the current hemi motors is a level of stupidity/arrogance only the French can pull off.

 

That hardtop without a B pillar may be the first change. A shame though. The CTS coupe would have been so much nicer if they had not lost the same battle.

 

Looks nice. It says alot about the current generation that the best cars they do are retros or based on very old designs. Back in the 1950's-1970's almost everything was a fresh new signature design, good and bad.

 

ChryCo has to remember how to do cars again. Maybe they are correct that their car (versus SUVs and trucks) buyers are only into nostalgia. A sad state of affairs in any case. Is J Mays on retainer?

 

Knew that but he was the huge proponent of retro design. First at VW then brought it to FoMoCo. Last I knew was at Whirlpool but maybe ChryCo maybe they put him on retainer to keep the retro approach alive for a group that now longer wants new for their cars.

 

It seems that looking at buying a car is pretty much the definition of 'nostalgia' now...

 

Ive never understood this broadly critical view of those who enjoy nostalgic design. Can you help me understand?

Very nicely done, but doesnt do anything for me. Not a fan of the 'space ship' genre of styling.

 

The issue is how retro is essentially designing by looking in the rear view mirror instead of moving forward.

 

where does that leave Porsche?
