I haven't seen replay footage but seems that Tsunoda ''took one for the team'' by not showing up.

Agree'd the start will be interesting with Russell along side Carlos who I think is a better driver than Russell currently.

your basing Max's status on...a race where he outqualified his teammate and a race that hasn't happened yet?

She’s firmly in the Leclerc camp, which I can live with.

Another brilliant qualifying. Ferrari looking mighty fast, was a nail biter watching Russell on a super fast lap. Great stuff.

Red Bull looking like the only team to get it wrong. Is it from the new technical directive or not? Too early to tell. A Max Verstappen that gets furious with the balance of his car is one that looks beatable. Good news for the race. I thought his attitude after qualifying was poor. He didn't openly blame the team, but the way he stormed off immediately rather than even saying one word to his team was worth a thousand words. Like dude, you've had the best car all year and for the first time it was bad and you go into a hissy fit? Be more professional than that.

No penalties for Max? That's ridiculous. I think he deserves a penalty for impeding in the pits, and impeding Tsunoda.

Hats off to Sainz. Most people tipped Leclerc as being one of the very best drivers in F1 and yet Sainz is beating him. Give him the credit.

Ferrari typically isn't as strong in the race so the favorites have to be Mercedes.

Beware. An angry Max is a fast(er) Max.;)

There should be some exciting moves through the midfield.

Doubtful. They seem to have a real setup issue with the car. It's not like he lucked out in quali and thus is placed in midfield. He is in midfield because the car sucks on this track.

If anything he might get into some fight and break a wheel. I'm ok with that. He has the title in his pocket, lets have a different winner for once. Max can run circles around the competition in Japan, but has to sit this one out. As does Perez.

Now i know why i dislike MV, never really been able to put my finger on it but this guy thinks he is the only one allowed on the track for quali.

They didn't penalize Max for those incidents?!!

Incredible. Had it been a Ferrari driver they would've put them at the back of the grid.

    Well that was different!

I hope Redbull figured it out and gets the win tomorrow so I can see that perfect season! :D

Great to see Ferrari on the front row but I’d be shocked if they finish that way. IMO Sainz can’t handle the pressure and will eventually trip up if Charles doesn’t get impatient and take him out first.

Should be a fun race to watch.

Max .15 in front of his teammate is still better than being 4 tenths behind your teammate though

Would have preferred owning the front row, but I'll settle for pole and third. Would have preferred a RB in P2, but I'll take Russell over Hamilton. Nothing about this track excites me...except the chance of a Sainz or Leclerc win tomorrow.
