fwiw, if i was offered either a pista or speciale as a gift, i would take speciale because i like the response and sound more than i like the power of the pista.

After test driving the F8.... I bought a Speciale. :D With so few on the market, I was really lucky there was a spec I liked available.

I know the F8 isn't the Pista, but a test drive showed me how unusable the car is on the street. I'm quite certain I would crash a Pista or F8, as the chassis is quickly overwhelmed by that amount of power, making shenanigans on the street dangerous. Driving that car aggressively on the street in CT Off is something I wasn't going to enjoy, and I do 98% of my driving on the street. If I did even 50% of my driving on the track, I'd rather have a Pista or F8.

Also, I kept my Italia while I got used to the Speciale. Back to back driving quickly confirms what I'd read in the forums. The Speciale is better than the Italia in every meaningful way, except sound. The Speciale sounds awful and is only tolerable at higher revs. Somehow it rides just the same or better, shifts better, rotates better, and staring at a duck wing in the rear view while driving is just cool. Not to mention no rear defroster makes the rear view even better. My mechanic swears the Kline Inconel X-pipe is going to fix the sound. Not having the Italia around to compare with is going to help the Speciale sound better as well.

For me and my driving style, the Speciale is a better street car. If you keep traction control on, or spend all your time at the track, I can totally see a Pista being a better car for you. No judgements here. I wish I could afford both! And the regular ole' Italia is still a whale of a car. I miss mine dearly already, I just couldn't convince the wife to let me keep two 458s...

I've heard IPE Titanium vs. Kline Inconel in person side by side on Italias. The IPE is higher pitched by a little bit but also tingy by a little bit. The Kline system is high pitched without the tingyness, more like F1. As F1 cars are also Inconel and not Titanium, that really shouldn't be a surprise when you think about it. Hopefully my Speciale will sound anywhere near as good as those two Italias when it is done. 50% of that sound would be a 200% improvement.

FWIW, in Europe on mobile.de (one of the largest web site for such cars) there are 26 Speciale and 55 Pista for sale.
On the other hand the lowest asked price for a Speciale is EUR 260 K (and it's from an official Ferrari dealer) while the cheapest Pista is asking EUR 344 K (from an independent dealer).
I suspect that if the Pista prices would drop 25% the number of cars for sale would quickly shrink.

The Ferrari guys i know are now all picking up Pistas. its July 2023. not 2020 or 21 anymore when the car was essentially new to the market....does anyone even remember Speciale prices and demand from 2017-2019? there was a time when they were quite the bargain, why weren't they so "special" then?? same reason people didnt lust for the Pista immediately.. no exaggeration, i have 4 friends in the last 6 months who all bought Pista's and never even considered looking at the Speciale, they all wanted something they could play with but also a decent "auto investment" if there is one...............People are realizing the last of the non-hyrbids special series is just as significant or even more than the last NA special series proposition. Pista will have its heyday as well. and we all now know production numbers were similar. I had a Speciale, didn't fall in love, and i am now in a Pista and couldn't be happier. my second Pista actually. I have noticed Speciale prices come down a tick in the last 4-6 months while Pista have seemed to go up that same tiny tick. Maybe its in my head. idk. I prefer the Pista (as long as it has a good exhaust setup) in looks and performance. but i do wish i kept the speciale as an investment.

  18. Yeah, surprised at how well Pista prices are holding up on the secondary market. Esp. compared to, say, the 765LT.

This one, for example, just sold for over 45k MSRP.

I agree with the overall sentiment that both the Pista and the Speciale are phenomenal cars and each one does something different that appeals to different people. Not sure that a "winner" needs to, or can be picked.

However, I also don't think there is any doubt as to which car is doing better in the second hand market and appears to be on a trend for long term appreciation growth. I am shopping for a Speciale right now and as most of the dealers I've spoken to also have Pistas, they always suggest a Pista as well. With the Speciales they're reluctant to give 5k off the asking price, whereas the Pistas they're volunteering pretty large discounts right off the bat. Pistas are still overall more expensive, but given the massive difference in initial msrp, the difference is surprisingly small.

This could be temporary and the Pista could start to appreciate in a couple years, but as of right now, the second hand market at least, definitely appreciates the Speciale more.

Comparing to McLarens is meaningless, they depreciate worse than any cars on the planet!

You're excited about a Pista selling for 45k over, when there are Speciales still regularly selling for 200k+ over.

Well selling price has a lot to do with how it’s speced. Remember the Pista before the aforementioned sold for 100k over MSRP and was lower specd but had cf wheels and no stripe. As they say at BAT depends whose in the room at the time and what they are looking for.

On-market quantities average 1 Speciale per 4 Pistas, and estimates suggest 3k Speciales built. Does that mean 12k Pistas built?
