Perez had a bad day; that can happen to anyone, but the spotlight his on him lately. Funny to consider the 2nd in the WDC ranking useless, and forget all the good work he did so far.
But the whole reason the spot light is on himself is for his constant failures. The notion that it's to do because of what Helmut said is flat out ridiculous.
8 podiums this year, including 2 wins, and 2nd in the WDC. You call that "constant failures."; don't you think there is an exageration here ?
His teammate nearly has double the points. Either the RB isn't as good as people claim it is or Perez is doing a poor job.
That argument is completely fallacious, not to say utterly stupid. Perez is 2nd to Max who is leading the WDC. Unless he beats the #1, he can't better him ! What does Red Bull expect ? Do they believe that another driver would qualify 1/10 of Max, follow him all race, and finish a few lengths behind until the chequered flag? That's highly unrealistic ! They want a #2, and they have one. They put all their effort behind Verstappen, as they should, but then complain because Checo isn't following so closely. Before anything else, the gap between #1 and #2 at Red Bull is due to Max' superior talent; that's nothing new ! They have already spat out Ricciardo, Kvyat, Gasly and Albon for that same reason, now it's Perez' turn.
His form has steadily declined, particularly since summer break. RB expect second place, but they also expect solid qualifying and a car that finishes in one piece. This hasn't been happening of late, Checo is not on form at the moment It would be ludicrous to suggest that he's doing well...
No, simply realistic. Periodically we hear Red Bull not being satisfied with Max's team mate. There is a litany of drivers who have been #2 at Red Bull and were rapidely demoted. Being #2 at Red Bull is like sitting on an ejector seat that can go off any time. Marko holds the trigger !!!
If perez finished on the podium more often like he damn well should, he wouldn't be sitting in the ejector seat.
We know Perez is underperforming, he is still beating everybody else, the car is by far the class of the feild. Such a luxury of Max to have these type of team mates.
Perez finished 8 times on the podium this year !!! and 2 wins ! Well, Red Bull can change him, and we will see if his successor has more success. But they have gone down that path before, and it didn't work, did it ? They never learnt and keep setting unrealistic goals.
Apart from Singapore, a podium wasn't exactly an unrealistic goal for every single race this season. Or maybe it was and Max is just making magic with that car?
We know that Perez isn't in the same league as Verstappen. Or maybe Red Bull can't see it. Let them change him, and put whoever instead, Lawson, Ricciardo, Tsunoda or else, and see it they get a different result. There will always be Mercedes, Ferrari or McLaren drivers trying to get on the podium too, to stop a RB 1-2 ! It's not because Max wins, that the other car should be on the podium, duhhhhh "The definition of insanity is to repeat an un successful course of action in the hope of obtaining a different result" suits RB perfectly.
I do find it quite funny that we have people bitching and moaning that Max has no competition yet we still have people advocating to keep Perez because...reasons.
Nothing funny about it. Some people see F1 drivers like gladiators and think rivalry inside a team is healthy. I don't. But in fact it is often disruptive, even counter-productive and can lead to one leaving after a while. Look at Prost-Senna at McLaren, or Mansell-Piquet at Williams. Championships have been lost that way. From a team point of view, what would be the advantage of bringing a challenger to Max? More contacts on the track ! Lost races, etc ... Max is clearly the lead driver at RB, and the opposition must come from other teams. It would be different, of course, if a new team mate was to post regularly 5/10th quicker lap times in practice, and take poles and a few wins, humiliating Max, but that's unlikely to happen. Newcomer Ricciardo completely destroyed Vettel in 2014, getting 3 wins to the 4-time champ none. Vettel knew his time had gone and left. Max did the same to Ricciardo; taking the ascendency in the team. Who to you think is going to do that to Max ? I think it's more likely he will be bored with F1 before that happens !!
The last race was utter embarrassment for RedBull via Perez. Total Stroll-esque performance he should have been black flagged and removed. Given the budget cap and repair costs alone. He was ridiculous - Horner essentially said as much stating the only good thing was him serving a penalty to avoid in Qatar. This is a well paid so called professional exhibiting F2 skills........maybe. He had his shot and its been dismal and continues to degrade. He is 'RedBull' driver and can easily be moved to remedial Tauri Bull to serve out his contract. Ricci has not been perfect but has far better skills and tested so well they immediately offered him a deal at the tire test. 11 laps. Lance Perez has had how many chances. Plenty here whined incessantly about Bottas and called for his head just after Russell nearly won a race etc.
They should see him finishing his contract, and look for replacement in between. The situation isn't desperate that they need to sack him mid-season. I remember Red Bull saying Perez was the ideal choice a few years back, when none of their academy drivers could do the job. People on FChat are prone to make bombastic comments about drivers they don't like. I read the most idiotic suggestions as replacements. They can try Ricciardo for all I care. He has already been owned by Max!! LOL
Judging Perez by Suzuka is like judging Newey by Singapore. What a shower of shyte for Red Bull that weekend !!! It you chose a narrow sample, you always find a catastrophic result to support your agenda ! If you consider only one GP that went disastrously wrong and make abstraction of the good performances before, you are bias.
Its not about 'owning' anyone. Perez has lost it. Has zero growth left and in fact has declined this entire season lol. RedBull can toss all the sugarwater/taurine money away they want. Perez is an embarrassment. His contract? They make that in less that 2 hours at RedBull. Paying him off is their right and he can then go WEC and live the rest of his racing life as he see's fit. He is done after that. Torpedo man #2 after the Russian idiot lol. Perez takes a good car and can qualify and in fact goes backwards as did Bottas. No different. Remove him. No excuse for him, his skills lack the ability to match with the car. Its just simple maths at this point.
There isnt one. Max faced Ricci. The rest were tossed out. Period. Its just an indictment of Marko's academy being less than optimal. Thats the reason they hired Lance Perez to begin with. Lawson is the only good MaxBull driver in it currently. Yuki should have been replaced and let Ricci work with Lawson. Such is not the situation given 'Honda' or whatever it is. MaxBull need the engine tech from the company that was 'supposed' to leave.
Agreed - Marko has not done well here. Openly shaming your employees to the press is not a great way of cultivating success
That's their modus operandi with Helmut Marko leading the march. He was even pulled by the FIA for making deregatory comments based on ethnicity, no less.
