    Finished the run in-period of the Emira a few days ago.
    Had the oil and filter changed (even thought it’s not required), and yesterday took it for a first proper run.

    Fair dinkum, I didn’t even even run it to red line or give it full beans, but it astounds me that anyone could think they need more speed in a road car.
    It is bloody quick, and way quicker than the 355 (which I already I thought was well and truly fast enough for the road).

    I think the numbers are very deceiving and probably due to the manual gear-change more than anything else.
    This would definitely be a sub 4 second car with a proper flappy-paddle gearbox.

    On a track, sure, you may want more. But beyond willy-waving I can’t see why anything faster is required in a road car.

    Or am I getting old? :eek:

    I acknowledge the waving of your willy. :p

    But I am curious as to how and when on a public road you can really use that amount of speed without being a total dickhead.

    I’ve driven several modern Ferraris and had an awesome ride in a 458SP, all of which are obviously faster than the Emira, but after today I find myself wondering when or why you would really need that extra speed?

    Don’t want to sound like a soft-cock and I’d buy a 296GTS in a heartbeat if I could afford one, but I just found myself wondering if there’s a point at which extra speed capability is utterly pointless on a public road.

    The other thing that frightened the Hell out of me as I was driving sedately home and thinking about the performance on offer is that I realised that clueless virtue signalling morons can buy a glorified washing machine that makes the Emira look like a tortoise in terms of straight line speed.

    How is that a good thing for safety on our roads? Scary, scary stuff.
