It would be great for Alonso if Lance was a clear #2. They should be using him to help Alonso out. They aren't doing that when possible, but Lance isn't fast enough to even help.
Alonso has lost the 3rd place in the WDC ranking from Singapore. He held it since the first GP. Even Alonso doesn't get to podium position anymore. So Aston Martin regression has more to do with their car than with Stroll holding them back. But you still believe Aston should be 2nd in the WCC like after Bahrain !!! LOL
We know that Alonso is a better driver than Lance Stroll, but even him struggles now. So, it's really the car.
That's a 2023 video of Stroll vs Alonso. It's not a video of his 7 year career against other teammates. His performance has been paltry to say the least.
If Alonso finishes in lower positions (9th, 15th, 8th, 6th, etc ), the gap between the Aston drivers still exists, and Lance is unlikely to score any point. I thought that would be obvious.
There's all the criticism of Lance yet the guy is still driving a F1. More power to him. I hope he'll be in F1 for many years to come. I enjoy watching him.
Alonso is consistently scoring points which is obvious. Lance not scoring points against Alonso is also obvious. Lance in his 7 years of F1 is also obviously lacking in performance and progress. But unlike some of you here in this forum, what's the purpose of progressing and performing against your team-mates, Lance is having fun driving an F1 car irregardless of what the pundits say correct? I'm with the majority here of progressing and performing since F1 calls for that and not a hobby to fulfill ones personal or family agenda.
What I find amusing is your constant gnashing of teeth about Lance Stroll, since he has become an obsession for you. Does it really matter so much to you how his father runs HIS team ? It's his money, and it doesn't come from your pocket, does it ? Who says that a rich kid who fulfilled all the criteria for a Superlicence cannot be a diletante in F1 ? Not the FIA it seems. To my knowledge they never called for him to stop. Lance has already achieved more than many on the grid. The pundits? They are always after a story, and Lance is their whipping boy: big deal. I suppose he ignores the media. Are you pursuing an hidden agenda here? Class warfare perhaps ? I wonder. You think you hold the moral high ground on the subject because you are in the majority; well good for you !!
Because he p****s many people off !!! That's priceless to me !! Can't stand self-rightious and judgemental folks !!
Could you imagine someone buying the Yankees just to have their minor league son play shortstop and bat cleanup?
If Lance were having a visible impact on the bottom line of the FIA, then they would be voicing an opinion. Privately, not publicly. Maybe they already are. Or do you have an inside source that says they are not?
There's that. But it's more than just Ferrarichat: Here is a father/son duo who thumb their nose at the world. They have the $ so they do what they want and do it on a world stage where performance is everything. Nope, money is everything and with every race Lance participates they make their point. In fact with every botched qualifying or screwed up race they make their point. That aside I like the guy. I always prefer the underdog over the guy everybody loves (I'm still rooting for Max, he's just too good plus many folks hate him too so that endears him to me even more). I also like journey men: Guys like Eddie Irvine who can admit they are not the best but they are there to enjoy themselves and collect a pay check. Nothing wrong with that. 3/4 of the field are dilusional in believing they are the best and if only sitting in the RB they would win. They still wouldn't as seen with Perez. And finally I support Lance for a reason Isobel here once pointed out (which might have been tongue in cheek): Lance is the closest to my own dreams of being on the grid. I sure don't have the talent nor the money but if I had the $, I just might be there as well. Realistically not because I don't have what it takes to get the Superlicense (which btw most on here would likely never get either) but we can dream. It seems easier to imagine to have wont the lottery than to be born as a wunderkind.
That's exactly how I feel. I am not obsessed with winners at all cost. There are interesting characters among mid-field drivers, guys who made F1 their trade, even if they aren't the best. Right now, apart from Lance, I like Kevin Magnussen even if he isn't so good.
Qatar2023 The FIA has a released a statement which reports the FIA Compliance Officer "is in discussions with Lance Stroll in relation to several incidents that may have contravened FIA rules, policies and procedures during the Qatar Grand Prix." Note: 3 days have passed since Lance Strolls "meltdown" and not a single tweet or message on social media apologizing for his actions against his team after his Q1 retirement and to the reporter during his post race interview.
