Because I've lived in the area the most of my life and know most of them, just bitter old 60 plus women, worthless ANY more questions?
[QUOTE=" My uncle was audited by the same people for payroll tax evasion and was told back in 1990 he was up for $2M in back taxes, declared himself bankrupt and sat on /QUOTE] So he paid out over 40 million dollars in wages and paid NO payroll tax on it ?
yes, over many years in QLD, came up with a cock and bull story how he was "misled" by KPMG Any more questions ?
Not very good advice -A quick play with the calculator, if the average wage was say 22k over 20 odd years , he must employed well over 100 staff. What was the business?
Just got back from voting. The “No” volunteers significantly outnumbered the “yes” ones and there was an obvious difference in mood. “No” people very upbeat and happy, “yes” very sullen and deflated. As I walked past I held up my pen to the “no” guy and told him I’d be writing “NO” using my pen. He had a big grin on his face and said “Good on you, mate”.
Had the largest butcher shop chain in QLD back in 1990, 26 shops from memory with about 8-10 people per shop, always had a story that he was being robbed by his employees, my dad helped him out in his early days when he got into tax problems, GAVE him $180k when he said he was going to top himself ..... would have been the best thing for all of us in the end, including the tax office, what a lowlife, stealing from his dead brother and deceiving my naive mother. Apparently payroll tax varies from state to state and he "says" kpmg didn't acknowledge the change of state from NSW (where he started) to QLD ...... I never checked but I think he's lying but he "says" he paid out all of his creditors before paying the ATO, again I call BS, he was dodgy his whole life, living large on other people's money
Over the years I've financed many butchers but never come across a poor one . Was he a gambler? Reads like a conman -why wouldn't he just borrow against the business or its creditors? A business like that would have "massive cash flow " perhaps 200k a week gross ?
Not a gambler He was, and IS , an arsehole, living large on other people's money Ended up opening a business in Tassie called Bertie's Butcher : https://www.bertiesbutcher.com.au/ I see they're legit now (hopefully)
No, he had to sell it to pay my mum back .......... my youngest brother and I just wanted to bump him off but my BIL reckoned he could get the money back .... he got some of it but by my reckoning , having seen my dad's portfolio, we came up over a million or more short Gave her the "last" $400k the day before she died ...... ****
