    Back to fitting this system.

How hard is it and how long does it take?

It's not too bad. Much easier than a 599 certainly, but of course everything is relative. I have a 4-post lift and wouldn't want to do it on my back on jack stands, which would be miserable.
How long it takes depends on how quickly you work, how rusted your stock header bolts are, etc.
I did a write-up for another fchatter with some tips and tricks (ie which order to put which pieces in, etc.) right after I had finished while it was still fresh in my mind.
I'm happy to dig that up and send along to you if you'd like. Send me a PM.

    Thanks Chris,

I have access to a 4 post lift... Just not sure how long it will take.

It would be awesome if try and find that info and I will DM you now.

    Many thanks

I just read all 22 pages of this thread and can't find anyone with Fabio's straight-through rear pipes and centre H pipes on a pre-AN51797 575M.
If anyone has this setup, is it too loud?
I have his rear straight pipes on mine, but it needs a little more volume. I also read that there may be an option for small silencers on the H pipe?

I can imagine it would be insanely loud if you went straight headers back, would probably ruin the car tbh

V12s by their intrinsic harmonic tend to be rather balanced and not that loud vs your usual V8.

My 575M with stock headers and 6 cats, factory straight pipes, and unvalved Novitec Supersport mufflers and 90 mm tailpipes would wake the dead it was so loud. You could look straight through one set of tailpipes.

Kevin, my current setup on my 550

    OEM headers
    200 cell cats
    Fabio "double-H" center section
    OEM over-axle pipes
    Fabio rear straight pipes

A caveat here is that 575s have different OEM headers with pre-cats in addition to the primary cats, which may make some difference in resulting sound levels.

That said, with the above setup my 550 is loud but not "too loud," and not much more so than with the Tubi rear mufflers that were on the car before. There is still some drone around 2k rpm but not quite as annoying as it was with stock exhaust & Tubis (double-H pipes supposedly help somewhat here).

Personally, I don't mind a loud exhaust as long as it sounds good to my ear (and this setup does, IMO). Of course, your definition of "too loud" may differ from mine, but I can tell you that the guys who I go on weekend drives with always tell me how fantastic it sounds, and they're the ones who can hear from outside/behind the car.

Thanks. To clarify, a 575M has two pre-cats, one on each header and a larger cat, post header, so six in total?

I just looked at a few headers for sale and can see they have a cat!
So I think I'll keep all six standard cats with an H or X pipe and rear straight-throughs. @tazandjan, did you have an H or X pipe?

H pipe along with Fabio headers and 200 series cats, Superamerica HGTC exhaust, and Supersprint over the axle pipes. X-pipes sound good, but cost you hp and torque.

I LOVE it when I get a chance to meet Fchat guys in real life.

Today has been a great day.

@Dm993tt as noted in this thread has a yellow 550 with Fabios goodies.

As luck would have it he was in Scott’s Valley at Canepas on the way to Rennsport (just down the road a mile from our girls school)…

I hoped to share/show-off my 550 but then my wife got called in so I had daddy duty and the 550 stayed parked…. but while the girls were at gymnastics…. I got to meet @Dm993tt in person (in his 993).

He followed the continued trend of “us guys” being such a nice guy and very sharing of his time. I was extra excited to meet him due to my Cannonball Run obsession.

My obsession for the Cannonball Run only got worse after I ran the One Lap of America (OLOA) Cannonball Run in 2006 and got to meet Brock Yates and his son Brock Jr.

Today meeting DM993TT was awesome because he broke the record with Alex Roy as chronicled in Roy’s book “The Driver” and the follow on movie “Apex the secret race across America”.

I love the sound of our Fabio “enhanced mistresses” but I will admit the startup bark on his 993 was robusto!

Thanks for the time today Dave, really enjoyed our chat.

Continued jealousy of you guys with Maranellos and 993’s….especially guys that drive them… paging @p1turbo

    have a great weekend guys!

Eric, have a driver-grade '95 993 Carrera coupe that I'm probably going to be selling this fall. Completely different driving experience vs. the 550. It's been great fun having both, and the 993 can be a legit "daily", but I've decided to sell it along with my '70 911 vintage racer to fund another car purchase. Don't worry, keeping the 550...just had it beautifully detailed.

I installed 6-1 headers with cats at my 550, 2 years later also 6-1 headers and cats at my (ex) 599 by myself.

550 done at a 1m lift in my garage
599 on a pit at a friends workshop

550 is much more easy than 599

550 takes about 8-12 hours with good tools and when you know what you do.
599 minimum 20-25 hours, a nightmare to get loose the nuts from the stock headers.

Both transfers the cars into another sphere.
Especially the 599 GTB is a completly other car after the transfer.

Has anyone run a 550 or 575 oem setup with Fabio’s catted headers?

Me and Taz run it with OEM HGTC rear mufflers, though we added over axle pipes from SS

I just received my crate from Fabio with Headers, cats, double-H pipe, and connector pipes. Car came with his mufflers. I just learned about the over axle pipes. What's the advantage of going with the SS replacement pipes over the stock pipes? Hopefully I'll start the install in the next week or two, so if I decide to go with the SS pipes I'll likely do them at a later date since they take 8 weeks to produce.

Less back pressure, more hp and torque.
