I agree! $2 bullet will sort them real quick.

Taking both cars to the panel shop for a quote tomorrow, I will ask him once they approve the repair if he can please get onto Toyota ASAP to program my new keys so I can stop worrying about them coming to take it.

I have already purchased and programmed new garage remotes, so they are all good. Not that they used the remote anyway, but I bet they came past last night and hit the button to see if it opened up for them.

I don't mate, nah. Front fence is like Fort Knox, solid 7ft tall brick rendered fence with double gate and digital dead bolt key pad to get it and electric panel lift garage door.

Didn't need cameras as Poncho and Oscar used to bark at all the boogeymen during the night and they kept my property safe.

Poncho is the retirement lounge now, but she's outside barking as we speak. She's quite deaf now the poor old darling, so she's probably hearing things that aren't there lol.

I am going to buy this wireless kit tomorrow from SuperCheap. Was going to get it done today, but was too tired from the big day yesterday and lack of sleep last night.

Hopefully I sleep better today and will get this camera kit or even just a basic kit to quickly install tomorrow and I will take it with me when I leave.

My Brother has a good 8 camera hardwired kit at his house and he purchased a basic 4x camera 1080 Eufy kit to put in all the other areas in his house where the hardwired cameras can't see.

I might even just get the basic 1080p twin camera wireless kit tomorrow, we will see what happens. When I purchase the house in Mackay, will get a good hardwired 8 camera kit also and security alarm. There is a different kind of criminal in Mackay. Here they just want to steal your cars, cigarettes and grog. In Mackay they are professional thieves and they will break in to steal jewelry, watches or my guitar collection. So **** them, I will purchase a good setup to try and keep these meth heads out to keep my family safe which is #1 priority of course. The Ferrari and all the other crap comes a distant second.

Detective Gracie McGirk that came over today told me her Dad in Melbourne has the latest top of the range security camera and alarm system in his house. Her Dad activates it through the day when he goes out and every night when he's inside his home. They are worried about all the home violent home invasions in Melbourne, so they invested in this setup as her Dad is in his mid 60's and lives alone.

It's a perimeter system setup which you can set the distance which triggers outside lights all around the house and delivers a short 100db warning alarm to deter people to stop coming closer to the property. If they keep coming then it gives another short 100db warning, normally you would wake up by now she said because it's very loud in the middle of the night.

If they keep coming or someone breaks in, then the alarm goes off at 120db till it's deactivated and all the lights inside and outside the house come on. It's quite a show she reckons. Very lucky the warning alarm has only gone off a few times through the night she said, so obviously people have tried to walk up to the house in the early hours of the morning she reckons, but it's done it's job to scare them away with the lights and alarm that blows your ear drums out lol.

This sounds like the system I will install when I build my new house on the Gold Coast one day as I will be older, fatter and not as violent as I used to be to deal with the local scum.

    Ok, here goes..........

I need to fast track the repairs on this Prado of mine as Nicole is taking it to Mackay in mid-January 2024. It is coming up real quick.

So I went and got quotes myself to pass onto the paint shop so I can save him an hour or two of phoning around chasing these quotes.

I swung past the Toyota dealership this morning to get a quote to re-program my spare key, supply new programmed key and parts quote for new drivers side door lock. $1200.

I sung past Autobarn and got a quote for the new 4K Blackvue twin camera dashcam to replace mine that was torn out of the car. $1350 fitted.

I thought about what Klink was saying yesterday in regard to the tyres. Insurance will replace what's on there now at $320 a tyre, $1280 for new Dunlop AT22 tyres which I know last around 40,000 kms. I thought **** it, maybe there is a better option out there for the same money or slightly more, so I went to Bridgestone to enquire about a set for similar money that might possibly get me more miles out of them. With the exception of the Bridgestone Duelers, as I know they also last around 40,000 kms.

I talked to my mate at Bridgestone, and he recommended I fit Bridgestone Dueler All Terrains. 60 road/40 off road mix of tyre. He said they are good for 80,000 km to 100,000 kms if you rotate them every 5000 kms up to 20,000 kms. Then every 10,000 kms after that. I rotate the tyres front to back every time I service the car at 5000kms, so that is not a problem for me. Trouble is, they are $515 a tyre, I told him probably too much money and he said **** it man, insurance job, may as well get them now for $800 more and be done with it. So I said ok, good idea as I won't be spending much time in Mackay next year. $2160 for 4x tyres and wheel alignment also.

Quote is over $4000 now and starting to creep up there already, but it gets even better............

Straight after that, I take these printed quotes to the paint shop. The owner Rishi comes out and I tell him what happened, gave him the quotes and showed him the car. Shannons said it would be best to get one BIG quote from one person as it's easier to send a purchase order to the paint shop, instead of 4x different shops.

Rishi has done this many times before, so he thanked me for chasing those quotes up and then told me he can't get the car in till February 2024 because he's booked out. I then told him I need it done asap as I am afraid they will come back and try to take the car as they have the original keys and the other reason is Wife and kids are taking the car to Mackay in mid-January. He understood and said can shuffle some stuff around and get it in mid-December and return the car early January. Very thankful for this as he does fantastic work there.

He starts to look at the car and I show him the damage on the front bar, so he's quoting the front bar, grill and chrome bonnet trim. No worries, that's the obvious that I saw when I fit the tyres to the car and that is what I told Shannons also as the only damage I see to the vehicle.

Rishi then walks around the car and starts to point out minor scuff marks here and there, barely noticeable, but he's a spray painter, he's got an eagle eye for this ****. He asks me if these were there before, some were, some were not. He went right over the car and pretty much every panel has a slight mark on it and will need paint. I told him not to worry about the ones I know that were there, but some of the new marks/light scratches are beside the marks that were already there, so he's quoting to paint A LOT more than just the front bar now.

There is a minor paint scratch lhf guard, lhf lower door, lh rear 1/4 panel, rear bar has some marks on it and tailgate where Mrs opened onto garage door and tiny paint chip taken off the tailgate door edge, rhr lower door minor dent, they definitely left some scratches on same rhr door when they climbed in and out of the drivers seat so the rhr door will definitely getting minor door dent repaired and full paint.

He then looks at where they ripped that dash camera off the windscreen, I showed him the roof lining in that corner where the cable was torn out and he pulled down the sunvisor and saw that the roof lining was creased starting there and going up to the drivers side. I didn't notice that myself. So guess what, new roof lining now also. I said **** mate, that's a big job. This quote just went from $2000 for a front bar, front grill and bonnet trim replacement to a $7000+ job for all that paint and roof lining. I said insurance might tell you to get ****ed lol He said nah, car is nearly 10 years old and it still looks mint so they can't say no. I said bloody hell mate, that's a lot of money, but he was not bothered about it. He also said he will quote for a full interior detail as there is still fingerprint dust on the dash etc that I haven't cleaned yet.

So he will book in for a detail straight up and the keys to be re-programmed and then I will take the car in mid-December for that other work.

This insurance claim will be over $10K now I reckon. $10,000 for an hour long joy ride!! Not including my out of pocket $700 insurance claim, $400 for door and window locks, garage remotes and maybe this camera kit I buy today. $12,000+ joy ride in total.

    Makes my ****en blood boil!!!

He's not on his patmalone with the wait time.
I'm having clients picking up my renta's 6 month's after having the car assessed and booked in,parts accessibility is probably the main bugbear.

Man, yes! I never thought of that.

Keys are stocked in Brisbane, tyres were Townsville, dash cam Melbourne.

Was kinda hoping the front bar and grill etc be In Australia, surely someone will have that stock.

The roof lining is not a common item that gets changed, so maybe that’s in Japan which will be 10-12 weeks for an item like that as they can’t airfreight it.

I will chase him up next days off and to check the availability on those parts.

Yep, look at their ages. Parents do nothing, Cops pick them up but the system lets them straight back out the same day.

Parents don't care, but hey, let's give them a "voice" in Parliament lol. ****en anyone who voted yes has no ****en idea with the animals we deal with out here on a daily basis.

I didn't mention this, last week while working dayshifts one of my workers had his Wife ring up to tell me that she was not sending their kids to school that morning because there was a stolen car driving around the streets near the High School swerving at the kids walking to school.

A few kids had to jump off the road onto the gutter to avoid being hit by this kid driving the stolen car and one kid jumped on the bonnet of a parked car to avoid getting hit while the driver side swiped the car and smashed the mirror.

Attempted murder charges should be brought forward onto this kid! They eventually spiked the tyres and caught him. He has been arrested, he was 14 years old from memory.

Mate, take him out the back and smash his skull in with a hammer. It will do Australia a huge favour as what good will he be to society if he's behaving this way at 14 years old.

The more and more I think about it, the angrier I am getting at all of this. Day in day out, the same ****.
