Excellent, Ferrari SpA is making a big effort at these heritage evenbts.

One other owner I can think of who will be invited is the USA gentleman who we sold the Turin Salon GTO 52743 to, he's on Ferrari SpA's Board of Directors.

Article gives wrong chassis number, correct is 57495.
This GTO has been driven in the last 12 years a total of 7 (seven) miles. When I inspected it 27 April 2011 in Atlanta it had 92 miles (149 kms). Now it shows 99 miles (156 kms).
It has spent the last 8 years in Bahrain.

The red cloth inserts for the seats and dash are a less common option this GTO has.

About 72 units of the total production run of 272 cars had black interior with red seat inserts.

Just over 25% of the production run, that's a rare appointment, even less had no AC and no PW.

I'm guessing your total above includes the 1 production car 56759 which was specified by Colin Briggs in red leather seat insert strips, super-rare.

Since I mention the production 56759 with red leather seat insert strips, I should mention that perhaps one of the pre-production GTOs, 50253 or 50255, the two Geneva show cars, had the same red leather seat insert strips as photographed by Martyn Goddard in March 1984 and supplied to me by him.

Was that 'Bridge of Weir' leather? Very nice to see a rare 288 GTO example, thank you.

Perhaps, that's how Briggs described it in the July 1986 issue of CAR magazine, here's 56759 in that issue.

Hi Marcel, can I ask when the speedo was changed on 57495, was it when the GTO was federalised, or was it supplied with a MPH Speedo from the factory. Many Thanks

Wow red leather inserts are very cool and they don’t seem to be turning orange like the regular inserts. One of the GTO‘s I owned had the red inserts and I never liked the way they were orange.

That was installed by compliance agent Dick Fritz's Amerispec Corporation in Danbury, Connecticut per DOT & EPA mandates, I'm surprised to see that still mounted, it's easy to remove and in the last 20 years or so most of these Federalized GTOs have reverted to original factory specification, which is not difficult to do.

Paul not to answer for Marcel, but he & I have discussed this and the short answer to your question is, the speedo was changed in the USA when the GTO was Federalized, bear in mind that GTOs originally came from the factory with a 320 kph speedometer.

We discussed this in considerable detail in this thread in January of this year.

Thanks Joe, do we know if 57495 still has its original speedometer , or just the replacement . Sorry for all the questions.

Suggest you simply call John Temerian at We Are Curated in Miami, FL, who have this car for sale.

Small point of clarification: 57495 was purchased on behalf of a US client and is not available for sale.
