Any suggestions on how to get the front trunk open? The latch mechanism on mine seems to be seized. The release itself moves slightly but the cable is not pulling. All help appreciated!

Place your hand on the hood surface, center top, just above the latch and push vertically down to release pressure then have somebidy else pull the handle.
If this works you really need grease in the latch pivots and oil in cable as something is binded

on some dinos there is a second cable with cable looped white handle inside passenger compartment just above regular handle. this is teh second pull location but not all dinos have this.

again you may have to relieve latch tension by pushing down on hood painted surface

Sorry. “246”. My thumbs got in the way.
I tried pushing down while pulling with no luck. I’ve also looked under the dash near the lever and there is no additional pull loop like inside the gas filler for the rear trunk.

    Ant other ideas?

    Thanks as always!

When you push down on bonnet do you hear any spring mechanical sounds releaxing at any point?
I had the very tight one that very much needed grease but still you can hear the spring tension change when relax

When I press down on center/top (above latch), I don’t hear spring tension change. I hear more of contact between bottom of hood and the vinyl/plastic of the inner liner.

I opened this latch about two weeks ago and it was not stiff. This is very odd.

If anyone has a photo of the mechanism with the hood open I would appreciate seeing it.

    Hi Bob,

had the same problem few weeks ago! First I tried to make the cable tighter by pull it more through the handle and fastend it in the new possition. Unfortunatley no result because: the cable was broken.
You have to unscrew the nuts on the hood hinges. You can reach it with an extension that you thread upwards from the bottom between the nose and the radiator. Than you will be able to pull out the hood carefully.

Hoppe this helps! Good luck and best regards

[Something that the OP might want to check is whether the latch at the rear is really engaged. If you can feel movement in the pull cable when you move the release lever around, then it might be the case that the latch has actually release, but is just a little stuck. I had this happen on my 308; I puzzled and puzzled; was getting ready to try and do some surgery from below to get to the cable. Fortunately, I decided to just try giving the bonnet a good solid upward tug (being careful to not bend anything); *POP*! and bonnet opened.
