    Texas!
    1. It would look like the pics below. Exactly like the pics below.

    2. I'd love a V12, but that's not going to happen. So maybe a supercharged flat-crank V6 that makes 400 hp and 400 lbs of torque.

    3. AC.

    4. Gated Shifter, big clutch.

    5. ABS would be nice. Don't need no traction control. I'm the traction control.

    6. Stiff suspension, but not too stiff.

    7. Wheels can't be too big.

    8. Manual top is okay.

    9. Everything is analog. No touch screens. Maybe not even a radio.

    10. A really cool clock would be a nice touch.

That's it! Is this too much to ask? I'm a simple man.

Mine would be in a similar vein:
    • 3L NA V12 that makes, I don't know, 420bhp at 12k rpm
    • Gated 6sp
    • Modern interpretation of 250 SWB styling
    • Hydraulic steering
    • Modern suspension, wheels, tires and brakes, but no driver aids (though I'd also be OK with ABS)
    • Refined interior that marries modern luxury with classic style (and no touch screens!)

My Diablo Roadster fits all the criteria called out….mid mounted 530 hp V12, gated shifter, manual top, ABS only…..the AC is crap though.

Would not be a problem in a Diablo or any other Lamborghini convertible I’ve driven…..the coupes are like coffins, do not like those.

You DO have to have at least decent flexibility to get under the doors.

Yup. T50 seems amazing to me. But styling is so...meh.

I'd probably pick front-engine and smaller displacement, personally. And I think I could do without the fan...

But if you offered me one at a price I could afford, I'd take it.

I already own my dream Ferrari!

My 1967 330 GTC. I am the second owner, having purchased it from FAF Motorcars (now Ferrari of Atlanta) in November of 1975 and other than using it in really bad weather, it’s been my daily driver. There are, of course, times when I need to move something really big, I use my Jeep and utility trailer because the Jeep has a trailer hitch – for now anyway.

The car has been and still is an absolute joy to drive. Still, in my opinion, the BEST all-around Ferrari ever produced. I’ve taken it on camping trips, to model airplane contests, vacations, shopping, the post office and just about anywhere else I please. Also, it’s been seen at many car shows and owns the trophies to prove it. Back in the seventies and early eighties, I spent a lot of time on the track at various FCA events, having accrued well over 10,000 track miles.

I can’t think of any other Ferrari, new or used, that would give me the all-around driving fun and enjoyment that my yellow beauty has given me.

For what it’s worth, a good part of my pride is being able to do any and all required work myself. I’ve replaced some faulty upholstery, painted the car, rebuilt the engine and gearbox, performed some electrical upgrades and modifications, designed and built my own custom exhaust system, designed and built a custom stereo system, rebuilt the entire suspension, made new carpeting, refinished the alloy wheels, rebuilt and re-chromed the knock off hubs (some idiot used a steel hammer on them), etc.

It may seem like a lot of work but the car does have over 203,000 miles.

I have been openly criticized by quite a few people for the modifications I’ve made, mostly regarding non-originalty. One guy even criticized my whitewall tires! Fact is I don’t care. It’s my car and I’ll do as I please. The mods were done in the interest of reliability, and all are, in fact easily reversible.

It is my true belief that all cars are meant to be driven, Ferraris included. Yes, they’re expensive, exotic and downright gorgeous but still, just cars.

That’s my story and I’m sticken to it!

    Bob Z.

@Bob Zambelli, what an awesome story. What better life could a car live than having a caretaker who loves and appreciates it so much? Who wants to spend time with it, driving it, working on it and sharing it with others. I think it's great.

Also - I love the 330 GTC. Not in my budget now, but hopefully someday. I'm not sure I'll take mine camping, but I definitely intend to use and enjoy it. :)

I'd like to see a detailed write up of the changes you made. I already know about the GM Delco 10-SI alt. Definitely an improvement over OEM.

    Hello, JCR.

Yes, glad to list the mods to my GTC.

    1) Substituted urethane bushings for the (too soft) rubber ones on the front swaybar links
    2) Replaced the pathetic Lucas alternator with a GM single wire 60 amp unit. Driving at night in the rain, the Lucas unit could not keep up.
    3) Replaced the Marrelli coils and ballast resistors with Bosch Blue coils (Internal resistor). Installed Delco condensers on the distributors.
    4) Replaced the Lucas cooling fans with two Hayden units - estimated at least twice the cooling air flow.
    5) Created a stereo system based on a Blaupunct Toronto AM/FM/CD player. The original Becker Mexico was terrible. I designed and built two miniature speaker cabinets for two Pioneer speakers and mounted them on the rear parcel shelf.
    6) Removed the original exhaust system - didn't like the sound. I then designed and built a system with straight through fiberglass mufflers and stainless steel exhaust tips.
    7) Replaced the (very uncomfortable) seats with aftermarket seats. High-back with adjustable back rests and head rests. Threw away the original seats.
    8) Replaced the main relay with a Bosch unit.
    9) Removed the mechanical fuel pump and replaced it with an aviation approved electric pump.
    10) Added an oil pressure switch to the oil filter housing an installed a miniature high-intensity red LED warning light between the gauges on the main instrument cluster.
    11) Installed an anti-theft alarm system.
    12) I have a cruise control system but I haven't installed it yet.
    13) The car was originally a not-very-exciting light metallic blue. I learned to paint and painted it the brightest yellow I could find - 1975 Corvette Bright Yellow. The color was computer-matched to the yellow background on the horn button.
    14) I plan to install two high-intensity driving lights in the grill.
    15) Discarded the original air filter elements and replaced it with three Purolater triangular fiber filters.

That's all I can remember for now.
    Bob Z.
