It has not been taken apart since I had it completely done in time for the targa florio in 2009.
It needed new accumulators, but then it went on from there to a full rehab (of course), but 14 years and about 5k km of nothing more than oil and filter changes meant that it needed some love!
This was all done by H&S Motorsport in Houston by master tech Haris Djanic and his head tech Edgar- both ex FOH.

The skills to do these older cars well and correctly is hard to find and I have entrusted H&S with the whole stable.

Here are some pics of the engine out then installed.

Picked it up on Friday. Here it is at the Galveston party this weekend.
Made it there and back. The motor ran strong. The ac worked perfectly on the way down and not at all on the way back- maybe it’s a fuse?

Oil temp got as high as 130 and coolant as high as 105. It was a hot weekend in south Texas with ambient temps around 90.

I wonder a little about the temperature?

yes right, and 130°C engineoil is not unusual
but then you write something with ambient temps around 90 - so I wonder, nowhere in the world it is so hot outside. so those then are F? and that is why I got confused

    sorry Romano. my mistake.
i was writing those without thinking.
the ambient temperature here is conventionally quoted in deg f, and my gauges are still in deg c.

subsequent to this, another fellow fchatter who is a BB expert also said that the 130 deg c engine oil temp is normal, but opined that the coolant temp is normally within 10 deg of the oil temp, however with the absence of an oil cooler, and in higher ambient temp areas like texas, that this higher oil and lower coolant temp could happen.
i simply did not ever see that on the car when i drove it before - especially in europe.
and i also found it odd that the needle that far over to the right of the dial would be considered 'normal' .

you may check the oiltemperature with an infrared . may be you have some little electrical gremlins and the gauge showing wrong?

The oil temp needle buried to the right is not what I would want to see and I dont see that as normal BUT if its blistering out and you have the a/c on anything is possible. Verify the temperature with a temp gun and go from there.

understood. going to tech on friday to check it out.
but now that the temps here dropped precipitously, i doubt i will be able to recreate the same circumstances !

Car looks awesome Ross and they did a good job with that engine build. :)

Temps is probably where it's at, I assume that engine is a little tight at the moment also seeing as it's new and hopefully it will loosen up nicely.

And did that aircon stop blowing the fan? Or the fan still works, but it's not cold?

I hope all has been well with you mate, it's been a long time! :)

    hey there !
all good here and using the wheel cover !

i think the AC issue is a fuse, since nothing happened - no fan no nothing.

That is good to hear man. :)

And if the fan blower motor stopped working then yeah, sounds like a fuse man.

Hopefully it’s just as simple as changing that fuse and it’s all good again with no issues.

Have a great weekend and talk soon mate.
