Hose sourcing dino 246 gts 1972

I was told by somebody i could use non authentic parts for some hose replacements (for financial reasons).

Specifically the fuel filler hose that connects gas nozzle to the fuel tank.
#95458
#12 on table 007


And a second hose on a parts diagram: #104464 #22 on mechanical table #8. It's next to and similar to the brake vacuum hose.

Any feedback or suggestions appreciated

95458 is maybe $30 from Dinoparts.de per meter $53.00 from allferrariparts.com cut to fit.

Ifffff someone were looking for compatible alternatives.... (generics) how do i find? I can measure from the car itself...

I recall on the forum here in an old thread somebody used a pepboys 2.25" id filler hose successfully for 95458.

was hoping for a diy hack for the 300$ vacuum hose as well.


I will duck and cover as things get thrown at me (maybe justifiably).

 

Very good to save financial money first on fuel hoses.

Dino used to be a fun easy going car ,,, Now they're getting a little more serious with thier increasing value.

There are numerous companies that sell these products, some with dubious quality. The most expensive isnt necessarily the best either in my experience.

Fuel hoses - make sure its suitable for at least E10 fuel and to SAE R9 spec. Lot of fakes out there as well so if you want to buy once then go with Gates or similar.

Vac Hose, check the quality before you buy, some are so thin they collapse when in use. Again buy from a reputable make like Gates

I dunno.

No need to duck, BUT, also a little confused why you'd risk an issue on a $500K car by saving $50 on hoses. Not to mention the value of your time. spend a couple hours trying to find cheaper alternatives or buy the easy to find factory stuff and take those two hours to enjoy another activity.

(although I do 100% understand the desire to save a few bucks, I do it sometimes myself.)

It's very confusing. Some background justified. This is my boss's car, he's from a different era. An era where he laquered his cars in the driveway of our shop with our little binks guns and 100 gal compressor. including a 250 TDF!!! The tdf is long gone... Wish i had been there to witnesses that!!

The hoses he wants to get installed temporarily so we can start the car around the house and not have to drag it onto the flat bed for more appropriate maintenance. He and some car friends had a guy who would do small jobs locally (los angeles) years ago but he moved out of town. And like many of you pre v8 guys, he once knew small garages who didn't only cater to super high end customers with super high end invoices.

Update- so far so good.

Got the easy one done. Prudence may win out for the brake booster hose and a recommended hose may be called for, we didn't realize it runs continuous to the front of the car.

Dave at Scuderia unfortunately finished his stock of booster hose and does not carry it anymore. Demand for aftermarket not strong enough, despite it being superior hose. I would have loved to try it.

We will likely order from italiancarparts or allferrari. Or worst case use gates hose temporarily.

Strange but i was able to find it by searching on Google. In Colorado, this is the place you speak of yes? Their garage looks wonderful!

 

What dia is the braided hose as have reals of the correct stuff made by Wurth

 

Thank you Simon, i need the large booster hose, the one that has a wire reinforcing coil underneath the braiding, judging by the check valve nipple i think i need 13mm ID (the valve mikes out at 13.9mm).

Does Wurth make this size and type?

Thanks Simon! We managed to get the hose pulled out. It's about 11.5 feet length and Im guessing 13mm ID with steel spring or coil wrapped under black braiding that looks much like the un reinforced braiding on the cars other hoses. I will take measurements in the morning at our workshop. If you find something interesting lemme know!
