I picked my car up after a pretty comprehensive service, including work to the cooling system. For the first time since I had the engine rebuilt fifteen years ago, the car overheated while driving home from the repair place. I'll be taking it back in the spring to have it sorted out, but have a question - should the fans come on with the key in the off position? I connected the thermo-switch wires together and the fans will not turn on unless the key's in the accessory position, and they won't come on at all while connected to the (new) switch. My memory's not great, but I would have sworn the fans run without the key. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the responses. Now to figure out why they aren't coming on when they're supposed to. I bled some air from the system at the rad, but there wasn't much. Something to do with the inoperable heating control - maybe a big air pocket trapped somewhere in the system? I'm not going too far down the rabbit hole given how much I spent on this visit. I'm sure they'll figure it out in the spring.
I crashed my car making this check. Watch yourself. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/robzworkz-1-crash-and-body-repair.281213/
