I am positive, and I hope Liberty will be rewarded for its effort. It could be an event to remember.

Maybe it would have been better as a championship final race though ...

That pit lane exit solid line looks a little short as the cars already on track are going to take a left side line for the upcoming right hand turn......that's my 2 cents. They should extend that solid line a bit further.

For a new track, it doesn't look very judicious to have chosen that place to have the pits.

Also, why having the start line so close to a hairpin ? That's asking for trouble, IMO.

I hope it all goes well, but corner 1 could end up being a trouble spot.

So the rumor is only 10k tickets yet to be sold out of 160k. And that doesn’t include all the hotels and venues selling their own under license.

IMO, that’s darn good for a first year event when the season has become an exhibition rather than a competition. I think COTA and Miami were not sell outs in their first year.

Slot machines don't come to mind when I think of the Casino in Monaco. Rather 007 in an elevated ambiance.

Not to put Las Vegas down, but it is kinda cheezy when the slot machines even great you at the airport.

We always enjoy LV. But to mention it in the same sentence as Monaco is hilarious and ludicrous

Before and after. The original Vegas F1 race and the one next week. The original one in Caesar's parking lot looks like a Go Kart track.

Should be good with the long straights and 90° corners.

The hairpin just after the start is a worry though, just like at Spa. They should have consulted Grosjean on that subject !

November is traditionally the worst month of the year. After the SEMA show the week before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving week are very bad. No conventions, people don't come to Vegas on Thanksgiving and air travel is terrible. Raiders games have somewhat tempered this after Covid shutdowns. Big influxes from CA and visiting team cities for the weekend.

In Dec there things get better with a lot of foreign visitors, primarily Asia who don't celebrate Xmas and take advantage of the lower rates. After Xmas its good through NY because of the Bowl games and holiday. But it isn't until early Jan for the CES show and football playoffs that things get into high gear again.

If you look at the Flamingo for example, the week before the race the room rate was $39 (plus resort fees). During the race its $319 plus fees.

Only spot that was available. Liberty Media paid $175M for that plot of land. Its walking distance from the Strip, which is also what they wanted (and the LV Convention Authority).

The Oakland Athletics baseball team also looked at this spot but Liberty bought it first. One of the few large sections of undeveloped land near the LV Strip.

The Athletics decided to partner with the owners of the Tropicana hotel to blow it up and build a stadium and new resort on its old location on the Strip. Cost of the stadium? About $2B including the price of the land.

I accept your explanation. It's not still an ideal location.

We will soon know if I am wrong.
