I think we may see Ferrari lock out the front row.

    Race is a different matter.

It'll be a 1 stop for sure with the cold temps unless a surpise safety car opens up the possibility of taking a new set of Soft.

Tyres will take a few laps to really get up to temp.

Zero abrasion so it will be even more difficult to get any heat in the tires.
At least it seems it won't rain; the cold plus this surface would have meant ice rink grip.

Practice might see a few new parts being used to replace body work with unforgiving areas on track and potential contact with walls etc.

I see ticket prices and hotel rates are at fire sale prices now. I give this event 3-4 years tops.

Let's not forget Brundle was the only one to be able to beat Ayrton Senna in the lower classes. He would have likely become a WDC if his accident hadn't destroyed his legs. He was a superb F1 driver. How do I know this? From the Ayrton Senna biography itself.

I don't recall Brundle having a bad injury crash...are you confusing him with Johnny Herbert?

I don't think so. I can't look it up since I gave the book away to another Senna fan.

No problem, beyond a broken ankle that did not cause a long absence he had no injuries.

I think you mean Herbert or Martin Donnelly. Anyway back to Vegas....

Calvin Fish also beat Senna in Formula Ford 2000, I believe. He recalled that he was the only driver other than Senna to win a race that season.

No it was Brundle. According to this book that accident had a lasting impact on Brundle's ability for speed.

That's why I dropped my subscription years ago. I couldn't help but keep wandering in there and then regretting it.

    https://www.planetf1.com/news/karun-chandhok-las-vegas-gp-first-impressions

Former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok has praised Las Vegas Grand Prix organisers for the job they have done producing the circuit and getting it ready “well in time” for the race.

Preparations have been long underway for F1’s return to Las Vegas after four decades, though there is a huge amount of fanfare for the sport’s arrival in Nevada this weekend.

With temperatures set to drop to single figures, however, Chandhok predicted there could be “real jeopardy” for the drivers as they brake from huge top speeds with cold tyres and brakes over the weekend.
