2 destroyed chassis, 1 destroyed engine and likely both of these drivers week-ends in the trash as rebuilding a car is not 10mins work.

Someone posted a video on Twitter of the impact. I can’t copy it from my phone but it was a big hit.

Hey they must have the same crew that ran the Beijing A1 GP - loose manhole covers, a hairpin that cars could not navigate, and then in the race the recovery truck blocked the track.

The music they are playing is 10 times louder than the cars. Wtf is F1 doing?

There's a video of Alonso whom was following Sainz when he hit the drain cover and apparently Alonso avoided hitting the drain cover. You can see Alonso juking his car a bit to avoid the drain cover at high speed. Impressive.

I see corner workers some photographers going to position. I wonder if any chance for fp2?

It's been a well documented problem at ALL city circuits long before Las Flop-as sorry Las Vegas existed, many decades before the previous GP iteration there.

This is beyond ridiculous and totally unacceptable, it shows liberty knows nothing about racing.

If this happens again in FP2 look for a driver's strike and Liberty's biggest financial loss ever.

    I'm reading it's a 2 hours delay with a possible 90m session.

    Impressions so far:

They need either better signage for everyone walking to the various seating zones, or the Las Vegas F1 app needs to be significantly improved. The routes tend to go through very dark areas, and aren't what one would expect. The map in the app locks up, or gets lost. The wife's watch says we walked 10 miles today.

Once you actually get to the seating zones, the experience is pretty good. Fast entry at the Flamingo entrance, lots of personnel to direct fans to their places. All the food is included, so getting a meal is super quick. And the food itself is solid: I had the loaded tots, chicken & waffles, apple cider donut -- all good stuff. The seats themselves are spring loaded, so there's plenty of room to get down a row if needed.

    The Sphere is amazing.

So 2 am to do a 90 min session. The teams will need to gather as much data as possible since they only got 8 minutes of run time so far. So at 4 am expect teams and drivers to do the debrief. The seemingly smart viewer recorded it on their TIVO/PVR, but wont see it because of a 2 hour delay.

Plus we have 3 damaged cars, 2 are destroyed.

How many millions of dollars, how much media, how much cringe filled activities just for fans to get 8 minutes of "racing".

It's looking like 90 minutes for FP2 starting at 230am.

The problem us 30 water valve covers on the track.
