Here, in this shot, an other Baricchi's transporter at Le Mans 1971, carrying the N.A.R.T. cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I shamelessly lifted this from a thread at Autosport.com Nostalgia Forum. The poster is looking for identification help….venue (believed to be Watkins Glen), year (likely ‘63-‘65), and of course, chassis number and driver and/or owner. Image Unavailable, Please Login My guess is 3647GT
Thank you. Great information. Did this car race at the 1963 12 Hours of Sebring? If so, by what team?
It seems 3767GT was its familiar green with yellow David Piper livery (as today) up to and including the June 9, 1963 USRRC Laguna Seca race. It then was painted red before June 30, 1963 when Charlie Kolb drove it at the Glen for Ed Cantrell- which conflicts with paint scheme notes on barchetta.cc- but nevertheless, kare is right. This is your car.
Yes it is. Thanks. I saw the car at Sebring in 63 in its Piper livery and didn’t recognize it in red. In fact, there were several GTOs entered that year and I don’t recall any that were red….although it was 60 years ago ! so…..I could be wrong.
#24 3987GT 4th OA Penske/Pabst blue w white stripe #26 3445GT 5th OA Abate/Bordeu red w yellow nose #25 3589GT 6th OA Ginther/Ireland blue. white state of texas on front fenders (rosebud racing team) #28 4219GT 13th OA Bonnier/Cannon red #21 3767GT 14th OA Piper/Cantrell red #32 3223GT 18th OA Grossman/Hayes/Thiem blue w white stripe. yellow nart logo on front fenders That must have been an incredible race!
Yes especially for a teenager attending his first race of any import. And not to mention the factory 250Ps, 330LMB and 330TRi, etc. I think the list has an error since we’ve established that 3767GT was green at Sebring in 1963.
Was 3767 born with three fender vents? Forwardmost vent in Watkins Glen pic appears to differ in shape from the other two.
Yes correct. Green with yellow nose.Drivers David Piper/ Ed Cantrell. Also, race number was #29, not #21.
