It certainly would've sent a message.

If nothing else, Ferrari should sit-out all media events in protest of this farce of a decision.

But, Ferrari are addicted to F1. They can't stand up to the abuse they get from it.

That might give the organizers a chance to dodge financial responsibility. I’d let the cars run and get bumped out of Q1. Then start the race and retire them at the end of lap 1,

I'm honestly telling you INDYCAR is MUCH BETTER racing! Better fan experience at the track as well.

I don’t get it. What was the rationale for kicking the fans out?

Maybe it has something to do with "opening" the track to the public i.e. traffic cars.

Living in UK, I'm unlikely to taste the fan experience, but I know racing is closer in Indycar.

I attended the Indy 500 back in 1984 !! It was a very good experience.

Ferrari is now very corporate and has lost its backbone when Enzo went, IMO.

It may simply be a staffing issue. As practice ran over time, the security personel has finished their shift, and the stands couldn't be left without them. I just guess.

The good news is that Ferrari is good on this circuit. Now about that grid penalty…

There's something the FIA should change with regards to damaged cars from the track and taking a grid penalty due to the damage incurred by the track.

If there's an anvil in the sky falling, it seems it will find a Ferrari racing car.

So far this is a huge negative for Liberty and Las Vegas:
    - prices crashing on hotels and tickets
    - idiotic night time schedule where nobody watches on TV
    - FP1/FP2 desaster due to lousy track checks/preparations
    - fans who paid lots of $ sent home while holding valid tickets
    - utterly unfair penalty for the Ferrari team, force majeure and they get hit, unexplainable

The event is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. We can only hope things get better from here, but Liberty and the race organizers need to have a long and honest debrief. This is no way to run a GP.

And personally I'm somewhat disappointed with the pictures I saw on TV: The track looks very uninspiring. High catch fences running along concrete walls. The good shots are of the Sphere and the occasional glimpse at the Eifel tower etc but most of the track looks as bad and boring as Singapore does.

I hope this race will survive. I'd like to visit it one day, but obviously there are several things that need to be addressed.

anyone else see an issue with a flat out 200 mph corner leading to the finish line?
