When considering the binding be sure to make it flexible enough to open without too tight a gutter between facing pages.
You'll find a lot of spaces for notes : each car description end with a few lines to add newest observations, and at the end of the book there is a 12 pages "spotter log" with all the cars as they appear now, a box to to tick for each one you've spotted and few lines to write when and where ;-) There is almost no illustrations spreading on facing pages, but i duplicated them around the binding in order to not letting them disappear there – producing magazines have taught me that !
Just wanted to post an appreciative note about an experience I had with a recent purchase of the Ed Niles Adventures in Ferrari Land. Ordered a copy last week as Octane Press was having a sale (check it out, some great deals, including Ed's book at $89 instead of $150). Unfortunately the shipping packaging was not well done. Books arrived in a large box with little stuffing, so they moved around during shipping and the corner of the slipcase and the cover of vol 1 was dented. Sent them a note last evening about it and today they responded to let me know they were sending me a fresh copy, properly packed (I hope). Anyway, good customer service experience. The book itself is quite interesting. Vol 1 is all about Ed's cars, lots of photos and information. Vol 2 is articles he wrote for FML and the Ferrari Club. Really glad I picked it up.
I think a number between 100 - 200 copies sounds like a very manageable number of books to be able to produce and ultimately find enthusiastic homes for, without turning your home into a publishing house Let's see what the response is like to your pre launch campaign.
I noticed that Porter Press say the print run is "strictly limited to 100 copies per year plus just 10 copies of the hand-bound Collector's Edition per annum, worldwide." Kudos to them for the disclosure about possible additional print runs when raising limited availability. Perhaps Mr. Nye took the Fchat complaints in this thread back to them!
In general I agree with this - personally I NEVER EVER write in books. However, one of the intended goals of this book is to use it as a spotter's guide. As Yan-Alexandre intends to keep the price below € 50 that makes the book also a kind of utensil instead of a glossy art object. And with a price of € 50 why not buy two copies, one for the library and the other one for spotting? Using a pencil instead of a pen even means that notes can be erased when necessary.
This gives me an idea, I could offer a "spotter" pack with a separate booklet containing basic information and the spotter log, for those who don't want to write in the book...
To keep costs down I would consider just adding some extra blank pages at the back of the book. Those that are inclined to use it will use it, otherwise those that don't want to write in the book can bring their own notebook to the events.
Looking at Yan-Alexandre design concept this is not a glossy car book but an informative working document which requires space for additional data as it is discovered. I would leave it as is and I’m sure it would make each book that is added to a unique fascinating record of history. Leave well alone and write as information appears! Great idea.
I like the idea of being able to add personal history to the book, I think it makes a book like this more special.
Having discussed the topic of replicas extensively, and now the topic of writing notes into the book, I would like to put for discussion the topic of whether @Yan-Alexandre should include blanco GTO illustrations in the book so that the readers can colour them by themselves with liveries they always dreamed of. Ferrari colour pens could be delivered with the book.
I think that's going a bit far buddy. I agree with Jack, let's not over complicate what is a relatively basic idea- a simple, low cost book to identify Ferrari GTO's in the wild.

@Yan-Alexandre I think if you want opinions on the book like price, format, edition styles and even the idea of a crowdfunding campaign it might be wise to start a separate thread where discussion can be more focused then here in a general book thread. Just a thought...
Has this version been revised from the one published about five years ago, or just repackaged? Is there any more information about the tv series…producers, writers, etc? Presumably it’ll be a documentary, not another dramatization.
Unfortunately I can't answer those questions as I don't have the information as yet. I'm on a few book publishers and retailers preorder list and when a book that is Ferrari related gets announced I post it here so you guys get an early heads up. It's only a guess but I'd say it's a new book rather then an update of the old one (which was excellent) but as I said, it's just a guess.
At 512 pages I suspect it’s a re-release of the original, perhaps as a way of promoting the tv series.
I wouldn't waste your time, I did something similar when I published my own meagre first foray into publishing and it was instantly deleted by the mods, along with a private message inviting me to sponsor the forum if I wanted to promote my own products. Given that my books are low cost enthusiast produced publications similar to your own I thought this incredibly over zealous. If I'd joined the forum the day before I could of understood but have been around for a while. I haven't silver subscribed since.
Has anyone had an opportunity to see this book? It’s not officially released yet, but I thought someone may have seen an advance copy. Figoni on Delahaye Hardcover by Richard Adatto (Author), Diana Meredith (Author), Michael Furman (Photographer) Image Unavailable, Please Login
