308s on BaT

The car looks good, but you never know. The lack of a CarFax report does pose questions. I noted the paperwork showed work done in CA, MO and FL, so it has been around. Repair work and maintenance doesn't match 12K mileage. Odometer detached at one time?
Why a clutch so soon unless the driver used the pedal as a footrest when driving. The paint appears to be redone (quite well), but it looks thicker than paints from the '70s era. I would think seals, gaskets, bushings etc would need attention after 46 years. Still, the car looks to be worth bidding on it. I hope whoever gets it lets us know some of the answer to some of our questions. I love GTBs GTBis, so I hope the car finds a good home!

CarFax not available on 308's until 1981 when 17 digit VIN's were introduced.

I bet the latter. I’d be surprised if it goes under 125 tbh. It’s a super unique car, the extra power doesn’t disfigure the car or even the engine bay. still looks very original in every way.

 

I bet that car is a **** ton of fun to drive!

 

Cherry on the cake… for anyone who looked closely at the article posted: previous owner claims that this car was one of Gilles Villeneuve’s 308, a personal gift from Enzo.

im not sure why this is not in the BaT write-up? Maybe there’s no evidence for this claim?

Gilles dies on May 8, 1982. This car wasn't built until after Feb of 83

3x8s are taking a beating. Ugh...

 

65K TMU miles sold @ 80K with buyers fees no cat/smog driver qual and going into winter etc...is not much of a beating IMO

Actually it did pretty good.

 

I am surprised it sold for that much. The car went into a shop three times in 2022 due to over heating issues and the electrical system seems to have been hodge podged by someone who did not know what they were doing. Reason for cam cover replacement is not mentioned. All that and the lack of compression numbers would prevent many from even bidding.
