While I shed a tear at some of the records being transferred over to Max, he has 100% deserved it. Give the best driver (perhaps ever) the best car that is pretty much perfectly reliable, and you get the single most dominating season by a driver in F1 history.
I applaude his success, but I think some don't enjoy such a degree of dominance. If this continues, and there is no sign it's going to stop soon, it could put off the spectators.
Exactly. I can appreciate the dominance he has, but I don't want to see this each and every year. If Max ends up winning 7 straight titles but he has to battle each and every race to do it, then I would have no complaints. But right now it's just too easy and predictable. Who doesn't want to see battles for wins. Imagine Alonso's podium was actually for a win? That'd be insane.
out of all records this one is the one that I didn't think I'd see broken. And every chance he's going to make that figure higher by the end of the year... If he wins both next races, he'll close the year with an insane 86.36% ratio. 1 out of 2, 81.81%. Las vegas is the big question mark if you ask me. REALLY cold temperatures so we could see a surprise winner.

Aaaahhh.... The joy that stats bring. I thought this place would never like stats again. Stats was a bad word a few years ago. How times have changed.
Its the car........its the car.............its the car. Dont forget that. That was the mantra and is of those that cannot fathom LH having any skill at all. Its the car. Max was one of those himself. Pathetic. Those quotes from Max are very very easy to find. He's doing well Max is. Takes both CAR and a DRIVER. Robots in the future Im betting LOL
Yes but when your enemy team is winning its always the car. Any driver could win in 'that car' lol. Just ask Checo LOL
During the dominant years of Mercedes, there was only one man Hamilton really had to beat and that was whoever was in the other Mercedes. Now, in the dominant years of Red Bull the only man Verstappen really has to beat is the man in the other Red Bull. Despite how badly Checo's season is perceived as going, he's still #2 in the championship by a margin over #3 greater than a win's worth of points. While Verstappen is a significantly better driver then Perez, the car is an enormous factor in winning championships - as it always has been throughout any team's dominant era. All the best, Andrew.
It's a moot point; over a season a driver with more skill will extract more from a good car. Bar incidents, or unreliability, that has always been the case.
Agree During the Hamilton/Bottas domination years I would have always put my money on Lewis for the final outcome..
The car always matters. Can't win a title in a minardi against a Ferrari. The RB19 is of course a very good car, but the biggest reason for his huge lead is his own consistency with it. Ferrari, Aston, mercedes have all enjoyed being 2nd fastests car at GP's this season. Aston slumped when the european season began and now seem to be back. Ferrari had good races, Mercedes have been 2nd fastest team. Now Mclaren has entered the chat, too, and seem to be establishing 2nd fastest car position. Red Bull, or rather Max, has been extremely consistent. Delete Max from the scene for a moment and the Red Bull looks only slightly better than the rest over a season. Max's consistency isn't new. He always had the speed, but until Monaco 2018 he was too eager to show it off and an unreliable car didn't help matters. Since Monaco 2018...how often has he been beaten by a teammate on merit? No external circumstances? Look at the percentage in points he defeated his teammates at, and the sheer consistency of it. Are there drivers who can quali as quick as him, or even replicate a race (at least to a point where P1 is guaranteed?); absolutely. At this consistency though? I'm pretty damn confident that's a NO. If you want to compare him to someone...compare him to Michael. And no...not because he's now constantly winning. It's the consistency. A teammate of Max, to beat him you have to be on your absolute A game. Max needs to have gotten out of his bed on the wrong side, his lucky underwear lost in luggage, the strap of his lucky backpack broken, and give him half a broken car and you might get a shot.
The car is consistent for every track, the RB has no weakness. The team has been great. But yeah Max is on top of his game.
Apart from Lauda-Prost and Senna-Prost at McLaren, with perhaps Piquet-Mansell at Williams, there has never been drivers of equal talent sharing a dominant car. The exception could be Nico Rosberg who kept challenging Hamilton until he beat him to the title.
Well ominous I would said. Well deserved. Really hope Ferrari will be able to mount a challenge for next year.
Max Verstappen has more wins this season than any other driver has managed PODIUMS in any season in history.
