He did but way too late. Max has way too much race sense to NOT know he needs to help his teammate much earlier instead of checking out by 6 seconds. Knowing Checo is on a higher downforce configuration and is vulnerable to Charles. Just he was earlier in the race. But waits for GP to tell him.
F1 drivers say oil on track created "unacceptable" conditions at Las Vegas GP start Formula 1 drivers reckon a classic car dropping oil on the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix grid created 'unacceptable, shocking and unfair' conditions and want the FIA to take action.
George knows he was at fault - Russell: Vegas F1 podium “thrown away” after not seeing Verstappen in blind spot George Russell reckons he ‘threw away’ a podium finish in the Las Vegas Grand Prix after colliding with Max Verstappen, who the Mercedes Formula 1 driver “totally didn’t see”.
No, he passed Checo who was in P2 at the time, then said ''tell checo to follow me''. Max made the overtake on Leclerc when he could. Leclerc then made a mistake after Max got out of DRS, and Perez looked to be pulling away from Leclerc. It was only when Leclerc got closer again, Max slowed down to help out Perez. reports...headlines generate clicks. They go for the most clickbaity headline. It's nothing to do with Vegas, everything to do with the direction Liberty/F1 is hell bend on taking. Street tracks and ''the show'', the racing seems to be a (distant) after thought.
How can Verstappen be declared winner with a 5 second time penalty and only a couple of seconds between him and LeClerc at the finish line? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Verstappen served his 5-second penalty during his first pit stop, so no need to add 5 seconds at the end of his race. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat

the extra stop helped but I'm pretty sure he'd have done a one stop if the SC didn't offer a free stop
Not so sure. If so maybe with a drop in performance for the very last laps. For sure a very close battle with Charles for the win. And for once I would have bet on Charles.
exactly...turns suck. huge long straights, heavy braking sharp corner...huge long straight. #revivehockenheim
Baku fits the bill with a very long straight....a couple of turns in that straight but they are full "pedal-to-the-metal."
Yeah we can argue about that till the end of time, we simply don't have the data how good or not the RB would've done on the longer stint. Certainly a long stint was possible as several drivers did do the same amount of laps Max would've done had he not had the opportunity to stop for a 2nd time. But I agree with you, the way it was unfolding if it was a 1 stop race, the advantage would've been Leclerc's. It's a shame Leclerc couldn't do the stop. If they did, RB would've done the opposite. Yup...but the gap I talked about was pre 2nd pitstop, i.e. after his penalty (the argument being that the 2nd stop cost Leclerc a lot of time in a gap he had/didn't have).
That street track doesn't disappoint year-after-year. I.love it. Ham with the "magic" button. Ricciardo and Max collide. The 1st race was a cluster **** of incidents with both Racing Points colliding, Hams cockpit cushion device, Kimi and so on and so forth.
