Hello all, I recently purchased a 1988 Testarossa in Nero or so I thought. After a more careful inspection I think the original color was blue. The sticker under the hood shows Nero but parts of the engine cradle underneath are blue and there are little hints of blue paint poking through on the wheel wells. I called the dealership in Atlanta and gave them my VIN but they couldn’t tell. Is there anyway to actually confirm the original paint color? I’m just curious.

Welcome & enjoy - its possible a call to FNA might get an answer but the traditional route is to register with the factory at myferrari and give them your car details - if you are lucky eventually the car will appear in your ownership section with some or all of its build spec

You could also Google the VIN and see if old advertisements for the car come up.

I have a friend who came over today that has a red Testarossa, same year as mine 1988. I looked under his dash and on his gas pedal where the black paint is wearing off it's blue. I think Ferrai used blue primer at some point in 1988. Any thoughts or answers?

Throttle pedals were made by a contractor and however they were painted and if they had primer and what color that primer may have been was out of the control of Ferrari.

Can’t seem to figure out if black is the original color of my car or not. Have called 3 different dealerships and they can’t confirm based on the VIN. What other source can I use? Would the factory in Maranello even have a conversation or record of it? This is a mystery

I have a lot of that data and so do many others but your VIN is a secret.

    Hard to help that way.

Have you taken any of the steps suggested?

Of course, but you have to provide them the VIN. If you posted the VIN here you'd have an answer in minutes.

Follow these steps to get the Original Vehicle Colors Certificate, formerly the Heritage Certificate:

Just noticed that it says it was discontinued. I got one not that long ago by calling F / the Classiche Department and asking for the Original Vehicle Colors Certificate.

Yes, and I got the email address of the right person - only took him one reminder to get my certificate.

I'd call, ask for Classiche, tell them you have a very special TR nero/nero that you would like to confirm the original colors for and would like
to speak to the person that can assist you.

Even if they "ended" the Colors Certificate they might still get you one or at least provide you an email confirming them.

And remember that in Europe, no means try until it's yes.

I'm sure Maranello has top men working on this right now.
