Just wanted to heap praises on Trev for all his work and effort on the 360 tune, and his US affiliate Sam for all his help during the process.
I can’t say enough good things about the tune, but in short, WOW WOW WOW. Feels like an entirely different car. The best compliment, and the most unexpected difference, is that it feels like I did a PDK swap on the car! I know the tune is not -nor is it marketed as- a TCU tune, but the way it changes the manner in which the engine and electronics interact with the TCU is absolutely GAME CHANGING. For clarity, I have an 03 with an F1 that was previously upgraded with an CS TCU flash prior to my ownership. Up until recently, I had been considering a manual swap. After driving with this tune, I’m no longer interested in a swap. This tune has brought the F1 transmission into the 21st century. The WOT shifts are instantaneous and amazing, like a more raw version of Porsche PDK. I didn’t think this was possible. Power delivery, at any throttle input, is more linear, smoother, and noticeably increased. I had to recalibrate my muscle memory in my right foot, as every single input, mm for mm, produces an increased output vs before, and I’m much more aware of the engines willingness and ability to respond.
What the tune was able to do -which was completely unexpected- was completely alter the way the drive-by-wire throttle interacts with the clutch and trans. In the stock configuration, it shifts like a normal person would: release the gas, depress the clutch, disengage the gear, engage the next gear, release the clutch and feather in throttle.
This completely eliminates the ***** footing. Under normal acceleration, it is now a nice smooth transition without the drop in rpm’s or lurch into the next gear. Under WOT? Forget it. Bangs them home like a more raw version of PDK. No drop in RPM’s, no ramp up of rpm’s before fully closing the clutch. Instant, almost uninterrupted acceleration through the gears. Ridiculous. I was laughing out loud, especially because this aspect was a completely unexpected and thoroughly appreciated. Last night I tried out normal/non-sport mode (vs. driving everywhere in sport before), because sport is now so eager and highly strung (in a great way) like a greyhound pulling at the leash, where now normal/non-sport mode feels like the old pre-tune sport mode.
Wildly wildly impressive. No manual conversion for me anywhere in the foreseeable future.

So I can’t comment on all aspects of this tune for 6 speed manual owners. I’m sure you’ll notice the increased response, power and reactive nature of the car, as well as all the software and hardware bugs the tune irons out, but if you’re an F1 owner, you owe it to yourself and the car to make sure you have the CS TCU (even a flash of your existing TCU is an option, and much cheaper than an OEM CS TCU), and then get this tune!

I wish I had gotten it years ago, and not spent so much time complaining about the F1 system being the biggest Achilles heel of the car and the driving experience.

    Thanks again Trev and Sam!:D:D:D

Interesting. I believe Trev has made several changes over the years as he continues to do more R&D with the 360 ( correct me if I’m wrong). I wonder if there are updates available at a cost to existing customers on an a la carte basis if any notable advances are made in the software over time?

Oh nice! That’s great to hear! I didn’t even think to ask that during the purchase process.

My CS at a shop buttoning up everything I didn't want to mess with after doing enough myself. Fixing timing (it was delivered to me 3 degrees of between banks), major service, clutch, flywheel, removed air rails, new fuel pumps, fuel lines, installing S-:line exhaust, tons of little stuff. So excited for when I get it back. Gonna be a different car!

That's the plan. That's after me myself fixing all the grounds, replacing the fried TCU, replacing the ball joints and all suspension components, the alternator, some F1 parts, and a few other things. I am certainly looking forward to it. Trev and Sam have also both helped me during this process as well. Good people.

Now go enjoy your basically NEW car!

Nice! Mine is getting done early next week. Still waffling on whether to do the TCU. Think it will hinge on whether the TCU that's currently in my '04 would have to be upgraded. I've yet to pull the cover and check the part number.

If you have any scanner it will tell you. If not, it’s less than 2 minutes to take out the screws and take a peek

    Your most welcome Jeremy,

I have been following the original Rolls Royce mantra about making it the best it can be. There was a lot of work involved in my tireless effort to get this the best it can be, I have a vested interest here being a 360 lover :)

Currently on 8th Generation. Kind of sounding like an iPhone version number now, hahah, well they are on 15th version so I have some to go yet... :)

There was a lot of work done to fine tune the F1 system to Engine coordination to ensure it's significantly improves the shifting (something I believe Lamborghini also managed to work out on their last iteration of AMT too so I am not the only one who figured this out was badly done originally). This eliminates so much of the delay that your basically using 'instant torque' to get to target torque that the F1 system wants 'without delay' and this means matching can be more precise too so no bog either, this faster shift also improve clutch life too as less slip involved - so all round, its a win win. Sam also has a 599 F1 and he originally was all set to convert it to gated until I did the same approach on his 599 and ever since he's loving how the F1 drives. Did the same trick on other AMT models too like the 575M so yes this works really well. This at least gives people options now.

Talking about botched gated conversions, I noticed that some people are now "experimenting" with 'faking' the TCU can bus messaging as a method of eliminating the re-flashing of engine ecu's for gated conversions (to simplify conversion). In essence 'tricking' the Engine ecu and instrument cluster into believing the car is operating in F1 mode even though its actually being controlled by a stick shift. I analyzed this approach many years ago and after detailed verification of what the engine ecu's do in either mode I totally 'discounted' this approach as 'dangerous'. This approach can only really be done on more modern hardware (The F430 s/w is incompatible with this) where the software was designed to be fully supporting of proxi-alignment - this methodology was really only adopted fully in MED9.x. (i.e. 458 onward).

Its actually not very difficult to do this can bus faking but also strongly discouraged and 100% not recommended. So anyone who is fitting a kit like this just flash the ecu's properly. This is a non-starter and could risk you entire engine. Why? Its because there are multiple driving setup configurations which are calibrated very differently for an AMT shift vs gated mode in the engine software. The TCU computer doesn't "fluff" a shift which could easily cause 'overrev' conditions which Bosch understood and did special changes in the code to make it much safer for a gated vs F1 car. Not just overrev but all kinds of weird behavior edge cases which will make the car just drive badly when driven as a gated in 'f1' mode.

I believe the changes in the characteristics and action of the F1 were one of the biggest and best surprises I found with the tune. I’m not sure if prospective customers or the 360 community in general really understand how much of a benefit and drastic upgrade to the car and the driving experience this really is!! It has to be experienced to be believed how much better it is!

Trev's updates work just as well on the V12s, too, 575M, 612, and 599.

They can also do it remotely for you if you can find your way around the engine bay a bit. Reach out to Trev through FChat and see if he can help you out.
