Peter, the finer pieces were outsourced and CNC milled, based off the the original parts. I was told laser cutting doesn't work on polycarbonate as the heat discolors it - unlike Plexiglas which laser cuts really nicely. The larger shapes I cut with a jigsaw, and then fine tuned the edges with a mouse sander at 220 grit, going up to 800. I made a couple of mistakes, and I scratched one of the sheets, which I then tried to polish, but it hasn't fixed the issue - I believe with enough effort, you can buff out scratches. First time for me, so was trial and error. I guess with more patience it would have been an A, but Im going to give myself a B+ for this attempt. I'll see how noticable it is, once on the car, and then make the call on whether to redo it or not.

Been a while since I posted an update ... life sometimes gets in the way ... But today, we broke the silence hopefully, and some bits and pieces went into the spray booth for color. Tomorrow, the car goes in ... Rosso Scuderia <3 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can’t wait to see the finished project! It has been a joy to follow this thread! P.S. are you actually going to track this car?
Dale Great to see you are still rocking along! Mine is apart for an engine sleeve replacement due to an oil/coolant pump failure! But best time of year here for having it apart!
You bet! Probably not nearly as hard as you track your car, but its going to be tracked for sure. Thanks Peter. Good luck with the sleeve ... this on the 430? Thanks John! Most of car now has the color and clear on. A few more bits and pieces to go. Going to let this gas out for the next 4 weeks or so, flattening the clear, assembly, and then will be working on getting the livery on. Dale Yes on the 430. Good news is everything else looks great, mostly . I will send a pic. Good color choice, but i am biased!
HEADLIGHTS WORK IN PROGRESS PART 1 Started looking into the headlights. Pretty bad shape - one of them had been opened up in the past and had some "race car repairs" done to it. It was still super difficult to open up, despite the fact that it wasn't the factory seal - but looks like they used the same grey stuff - which is seriously tough to get through. A bunch of YouTube vids showing a home made oven using a heat gun and cardboard box out there. Idea is to heat up the light and soften the seal. Wasn't so successful for me - I did a test without the light in it- heating up the box, and it caught fire. I think I was probably just too impatient - and wanted to heat it up quicker and overcooked things Anyway, decided not to go this route! :-D Image Unavailable, Please Login A friend helped me out - we heated up the seal all the way round, by blowing the heat gun directly onto it, going around the light a few times, and then he held the heat gun in place, and I pried it open with two plastic scrapers. Definitely a two man job using this method. It took a lot of effort to get the lenses off ... Image Unavailable, Please Login The lights were broken and cracked in a bunch of places on the one that had been repaired previously, and the actual light clusters in rough shape too with the mirror chrome plating chipping off, overspray and dust etc. ... Image Unavailable, Please Login Expensive part to replace over $2000.00 per headlight ... so this is a nice challenge to see if I can get something acceptable out of this ... if not - its an easy replacement for the future ... The lenses were stone chipped, as is to be expected, so I started sanding them down, and eventually polish. Image Unavailable, Please Login I figured a way to help hide some of the issues with the lenses would be to go with Le Mans style yellow film.... Image Unavailable, Please Login So a bit of an experiment, trying to see if I can salvage these lights ...

Are you willing to make a few more of these stickers for my cars? Have 2 Kessel cars too, VIN 127500 + 123497
Nice ! I’m happy to send you the digital files then you can have it printed. Any sticker shop / bureau can do it. What are the roll cage numbers and roll cage colors ?
Late to the show.. did someone already ask what kind of silicone you soaked the rubber and plastic pieces in? Very interested!
please mail to [email protected] really appreciate it!! If you are looking for spares, i have alot, also wheels
Any off the shelf spray silicone from a hardware store etc. Clean the part thoroughly, put some newspaper down and spray the part until it’s saturated. You may even see air bubbles coming out of the plastic, depending on how dehydrated it is … place parts into a plastic bag and tie the bag up. Place the bag onto a surface you don’t mind getting covered in silicone. (The silicone will seep through the plastic bag over time). Leave for a few days. Buff off with soft cloth. Works for rubber too.
No prob - I’m assuming your roll cages are black ? I changed the decal for mine to work on a white surface - so lmk - so I can change it to black for you, if that’s the case? Secondly - do you have your roll cage serial number ? It’s the red omp decal with a number - so I can change my number to your number/s before sending.
Indeed black. Will check on cage nrs, will get back to you. Or is the file open to make changes to data?
You are a life saver, dude. Thanks! Is there any silicone seepage at first? Should I let the parts air dry for a while before reinstalling? Thanks, again.
No - the plastic will absorb what it can, then the soft cloth will remove the excess - it won’t have any residue etc … just wipe it off.
Hello Prototype, did you also do other decalls for the 360 Challenge 1999 like this photo? Christian Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dale All looking amazing. Headlights in the oven to slowly warm, takes a bit of time but a one man job! Great work!
Just stumbled across this thread as I'm currently looking at a 360 CH myself and this is turning out so damn nice I'm feeling a little disheartened looking at all the shortcomings of the cars I'm looking at now! This is almost too nice to track!
