Williams retaining Logan Sargeant for next season--who is paying for that seat and how much does it cost? Number two indeed. IMO Liam Lawson deserves a drive, not this wanker.
Lawson is lined up to replace Ricardo if he moves up. Everyone is waiting to see which Perez shows up next season.
Over a whole season? I don't think anyone. Perez may only have a short season next year. I think Ric will do better but won't challenge Max any more, that time is long gone.
Ricci over Checo any day certainly. Checo is a mess and is beyond inconsistent with too many accidents. Over driving and sloppy. Amazed he keeps his seat lol. Oh well if he starts weak RedBull wont waste time sending him off.
I think Helmut is itching to give Perez the boot and bring in Ricciardo to the big team. I don't think it makes one shred of difference. Even a Ricciardo with prime confidence on a string of results won't come close to current Max Verstappen. I think a car that suited Ricciardo's style in 2014-2018 is long gone and it's now sharpened to Max's preference, that no other driver can handle the same way.
Dorilton Capital are American, so is Logan Sargeant. Don't look any further. There may be more skilled drivers to fill Williams' 2nd seat, but would they attract US sponsors ? It's on that basis that Sargeant was probably kept for a second year. To think everything is decided on merit is to have a narrow view of F1.
Perez catches a lot of hell for a guy who just finished 2nd in the drivers' championship, and who has won races each year he has been with Red Bull. The man has 20 podiums and has finished 3rd and 2nd in the championship for the two full years he's been with Red Bull. He just has the misfortune of driving at the same time as Verstappen. Like many of Michael Schumacher's or Lewis Hamilton's teammates, the timing overshadows the ability.
A British driver winning with a British garagista. Hamilton should consider joining Williams. What a Swan Song that would be.
+1 Max's driving technique is the fastetst way around most tracks, providing his car can live with his super agressive style. Even Alonso would struggle to beat Max in the current RB.
Yep, getting rid of Perez could be like "throwing the baby with the bath water". He has been a good #2 in my opinion.
RedBull are not going to pay him off and for his replacement lol! He has been a lackluster #2. He takes a winning car and hardly see's the front row and has gone backwards in too many races and qualy + accidents. Consistency utterly lacking. He struggles to be 2nd lol. If he loses his seat next year before the season is over, and does not go to Tauri - Bull whatever they are, he leaves F1. I would not hire him at all. Has he had a win on merit ever at RedBull. The percentage difference in points and total wins vs Perez in the same car is unreal in total. Perez finishing second just shows how weak the challenge is to RedBull more than what Checo brings to the series. He is weak.
Your opinion about Checo is well known. I can't wait to see if his sucessor will do better. How can you do better than finishing 2nd, when Max is winning the championship ?
I don’t think his nationality has anything to do with it. If it did there are certainly more recognizable American names that could have taken the seat. Dorilton’s web site doesn’t mention any drivers. My understanding is that Sargeant’s wealthy uncle, Harry Sargeant, III, is paying his way.
I’m not sure what that means. I’m just speculating that Logan’s being American is probably not the primary reason he’s in the team, even if the team is owned by an American company…and I suspect that Dorilton has taken in minority partners. Investment companies rarely go it alone in these ventures.
Yeah this is exactly what I was going to say. Sargeant's family or backer (probably both) are undoubtedly tied to Dorilton in some way, as is the royal family in some way? Really tough getting solid info on just who Dorilton are.
