You seem to forget that all the people being protected by shutting Higgins up were Liberals - Reynolds, Cash, Lehrmann.
Who exactly “shut (her) up”? There is no proof that anyone from the Libs tried to shut her up. In fact she was encouraged right from the start to go to the authorities but chose not to. And when she finally did report her version of the event she did it through the media first, in what has been proven to be a deliberate ploy to do maximum damage to the Liberals with the help of several Labor MPs. This ploy worked and she was rewarded $2.3m of taxpayers money by Labor in a process described by experts as “highly unusual to say the least”. The other obvious question is that if she was awarded this money because she would never be able to work again (it was supposedly to cover 40 years of non working life) how is it that less than 12 months later she’s got a cushy job in London organised for her by Labor party contacts?
She has already admitted to police that she has lied on quite a few details, eg , she never had Reg Grundies on at the start of the night, full commando. Hawke and Jim Cairns got away with swimming outside the flags for years, nothing said about that until right at the end. And the champ of them all Leslie Colin Paterson, always talked about his ceiling inspectors, and research assistants. Always said they were a tax deduction........... as they came under office furniture! I wonder who Barry modeled that persona off of.
