The crowd funding failed but shortly after Arnaud was able to find another way to finance the project.
My recollection is that I attempted to participate in the crowdfunding but there was something about the platform that caused me not to…perhaps language, security…I can’t recall the reason, but nothing to do with the book itself.
Just 350 copies printed at a price of just 50 euros - should sell out fast and become a collector’s item. Got my copy yesterday. Fine book.
The same is true of the Goodwood 75 year book I just purchased. Shipping costs are out of control. The U.S. publishing business for “our” books is so sparsely populated and relying on European and U.K. publishers is becoming prohibitive. Then you’ve got eBay which apparently dictates overseas shipping costs and doesn’t allow buyers and sellers to negotiate them.
The eBay International Shipping programme is an outrage which comes very close to fraud in my opinion. Because their costs for customs fees and shipping are sometimes two or three times as high as the real costs! I don't make any purchases anymore from sellers who use this programme.
eBay also charges state taxes to buyer based on residency even when the item may be tax exempt. Where does that money go?
