Whether it is Max maturing or simply my having heard more of him speak, I'm not sure. However, beyond his take on Las Vegas, I've recently heard him speak on the topic of being a role model. His thoughts -- it is good to look up to others' accomplishments, but you shouldn't want to be "the next me"; instead be "the first you" -- was, I thought, really well considered and nicely delivered.

    I wonder why it's 23 hrs instead of 24.

In the real car world, there are multiple reports saying Max and Alonso would like to team up and take on the 24 hr of Le Mans. That would be incredible. The big question, is who would be the third driver?

No idea why it's a 23 hour race but this made me chuckle:

It apparently had something to do with Max's teammate was taking over when Max had to bring a set of spare keys to Kelly Piquet, spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to make a donation as his teammate ran out of money to cover for the rest of the morning since Max was playing Padel with Leclerc

Being a Ferrari guy, I wish Max sucked. BUT respecting a talent, the guy is good. I think with the Ferrari drivers he races on the limit but clean.Others, maybe not so much. Dude can shoe a car.

Imagine Singapore the RB worked reasonably well...he'd be on an 18 race win streak right now!

This also perfectly reflects the increasing number of races per year.
In 1950 there were 7 official Grand Prix, one of them the Indy 500. A driver would need the perfect score of 100% wins for more than 7 years to get near Verstappens win numbers....

Ascari in 1952 scored a 75% race win percentage.....which WAS(past tense) the record in F1 for 75 years until Max broke it in 2023.

I question that percentage. There were 8 GPs in the 1952 championsihp.
Ascari wasn't entered in the Swiss GP, and didn't participate in the Indy 500.
So, he raced in 6 GPs, and won them all.
    To me, 6 out of 6 is 100% , no ?

Indeed it makes more sense to compare win percentages than wins in absolute numbers, but even then the poor reliability of F1 cars in the fifties is an important factor.

I'm not questioning your history regarding the matter but initially F1 has 6 races out of 8 races giving Ascari 75%.

True, but also back in the 50's, an F1 driver COULD jump from team to team unlike today's F1.

But the stats are wrong if they take into account races where Ascari didn't race, aren't they ?
To me, Ascari's personal success rate that season was 100%.

Ascari entered the Indy 500 but retired the car due to when the hub of the wheel collapsed. He classified 31st.

So regarding your initial post #4566, he did participate in the Indy 500....fyi.

Ascari couldn't participate in the SwissGP because it was the same weekend as the Indy 500 where Ascari participated in.

You are right. I checked, and Ascari entered the 500 that year.
But this raise the subject of 2 races counting for the WDC happening the same day !
So obviously that throws out all the stats for that year at least.

I certainly approve of that !!
It's a good way to look at life after F1, just like Valentino Rossi does.
After retiring, Rossi switched to GT3 and sportscars, and also runs a MotoGP/Moto2 bike team.
Maybe Max is giving an early warning of his F1 retirement, and reconversion to other series.
F1 may lose the best driver still in his prime because of the punishing schedule he doesn't agree with.
