Hello! Recently purchase a 355 Berlinetta. It had an aftermarket exhaust on and I assumed it would be a Tubi or Capristo....turns out it isn't. It was one made my a third party back in the day and it sounds a bit pants to be honest. It drones like hell between 1800 and 2400 rpm, I hate drone and it is terrible. It sounds average at high rpm but nothing like what I expected. I am in the UK and there is not many options it seems, let alone many on the 2nd hand market. I have read somewhere the tubi 'booms', which if true then that is not for me. I have the read the Capristo sound 1 is probably the one I am after as the Sound 3 will be mental loud which I don't want. I have the Novitec with Capristo X Pipe on my F12 and it is glorious when the valves open and sounds almost stock with them closed so I am looking for something like this which is behaved at low RPM and a screamer at high RPMs. Anyone got any advise?! Happy with other brands if they don't drone and give the desired scream at high RPM. Would also like a remote control valve controller if possible too!!! The car is a 2.7 pre airbag car. Thanks in advance!
I have no experience with it, but from reading things here, it sounds like the Capristo level 1 is what you want.
In the uk it could be worth checking out PDGough/Nouvolari as well as anyone else previously mentioned here or in UK section - there's been a few threads just like yours over the years......
I have a Nouvalari on my 348 and I like it quite a lot. What I like about them is they’re built to order and willing to tailor to your specs. For instance, I requested oval/square tips. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ive got a capritso level 2 with by pass valve on my 355 spider. Awesome noise when opened up, but equally you can have a normal conversation cruising with it closed. Best of both worlds in my view. We now do a good bit of touring around europe with the odd long ish day, ie 8 hrs top down and it’s perfectly civilised. No drone at any speed either. But put your foot down out if the toll booth and it definitely brings a big smile to the face! your welcome to come have a listen when we are back on the road in the spring
Ah thanks so much everyone! I've never heard of the Kreissieg before, the videos online aren't the best though sadly. Its a tough one trying to value a brand new exhaust as i will rarely use the car, that said I wouldn't use it at all now its terrible! I will keep an eye out for a used one, the Capristo 2 maybe is the way to go as if it doesn't drone and you can talk then that would be ideal. The current reminds me of a race supersprint i had on an E46 M3 CSL when I picked it up and it was a LONG noisy trip back from London! Thank you all again for taking the time to reply.
Capristo, ok enjoy! Safe choice, sounds like a boat at idle, but its prob better than whats on your car.

Yep they are awesome too, like a much nicer and better sounding capristo. Not sure they still make them, but pretty much any Japanese Exhaust.
Anyone heard a Gruppe M? I’m partial to how it looks. https://www.gruppemusa.com/ferrari-f355-1994-1999-3.5l-v8-50-60mm-115mm-x2-stainless-steel-exhaust-system/p2350 Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
SuperSprint is also nice and has a great sound too. Beautiful sound actually. https://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/ferrari-348/sport-exhaust-supersprint-ferrari-348-spider/390506-rear-exhaust-rightoo70-leftoo70.aspx#!/
That’s for a 348 though. On that note, has anyone run the super sprint headers on a 355?? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
They have a 355 version also of course. https://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/supersprint-performance-sport-exhaust-ferrari-f355.aspx
I had a Tubi (Gen 2) on my Berlinetta and recently switched it for a Capristo 2/3. The Tubi sounded good almost everywhere, a nice, balanced tone. I didn't find the "drone" objectionable at all. You could hear it but still listen to music or hold a conversation easily. Overall a nice sounding exhaust. The Capristo is a little more of everything; more volume from idle on up, more noticeable transition when the valves open, and more of a shriek at high RPMs. Less drone when valves are closed, possibly more when they are open. The Capristo weighs a little more and fits a little worse (hardly an issue, easily solved) Depending on what you want either could be a good option.
I've got a Kreissieg on my 348, its exceptionally good, a mate has one on his 430 and that sounds insane......I'll bet it will be insane on a 355....
I also have a capristo stage 2/3 on a 2.7 355B. I also have tubi headers. The stage 3 (high loads) is awesome for the F1 whine when you want it, and comfortable to cruise during stage 2 (less load) There is truly nothing better than those 40 valves singing above 3000 rpm.
