Big thanks to David at Exotic Car Gear. He refinished my original locks and pull handle components. The airboxes are new. Looks like it will only be in the 50s (10s in C) on Friday afternoon and Saturday this week in NJ so I can move my Porsche out of the garage and take the 430 off the lift to put the locks and door handle pull back in. I have already purchased the carbon door cups and coolant tank cover from Exotic Car Gear.

One really cool thing. notice the attention to detail on the airboxes. They have a metal ring embedded to keep the correct shape when forming. Also, the "lock" printing is not a decal, it's in the "clear".

the little details, like the lock being under the clear, is what separates some vendors from others. nice work

I would say it's more in the clear. Which is pretty cool vs just clear coating over a decal. Doesn't come across well in a photograph.

Just got the air boxes from Dave as well. Can’t wait to get them on in the spring. They look awesome! Also have the rear diffuser and front splitter from exotic car gear. All quality parts.

Test fit the airbox to the MAF. I had to do some sanding of the ring and use tiny bit of grease. Otherwise that MAF would never come back off. Perhaps yours will be different, let me know.

When installing any aftermarket parts on cars that are equipped with MAF sensors, post MAF sealing is critical. Any unmetered air will play havoc with the ECU. Just a thought.

What brand were your airboxes? Are you saying the smooth surface from the carbon was a problem or that the ring was too tight for the MAF adapter to fit and needed some "shaping"? I haven't taken my airboxes off before so I don't see how the ring could be an issue since unlike my Fabspeed carbon intake on my Porsche, the MAF doesn't actually go inside the carbon area.

Ok. Just watched a video on YouTube. Wow I guess that whole thing I thought was an adapter for the MAF is actually a one piece MAF inline with the intake unlike Porsche who use a MAF sensor that inserts into the airflow of the intake.

Same brand. I recall the ring being on the smaller side but perhaps to seal better but it was overkill.

Was it a metal ring? Dave said they added the ring to prevent deformation in the shape from the vacuum process.

Fit like a charm. I did drop two washers from the MAF into the under tray and in my laziness just used slightly larger new ones that I had lying around till I could either take the under-panel off or pick up some new ones in the exact correct size.

    Here are the results...

Now I did notice one problem. My driver's side "lock" microswitch isn't working. I can't manually actual it or when installed on the lock handle it doesn't lock the car. The window does drop so that switch is working. The passenger-side lock microswitch works fine either manually or with the lock handle. I think it must have been bad for a while because I do know that I had to be careful with the door lock out of the car to not hit it on the passenger side, the driver's side never accidentally went off when the lock handle wasn't installed.

Besides the microswitch anything else to check? If it's the microswitch I'll wait for the spring to replace it since the passenger side works and the car locks fine with the remote in the key.

Nice. Perhaps the 05 MAF is slightly larger than others?
