I knew my ride had been lowered previous to my purchase, but I still don't know how much... I bought wheel spacers while it was at the dealership for service, and now that it's back home and I'm looking at it, I think I'm screwed in that they won't fit. I'll be figuring that out soon as I test fit the spacer, but meanwhile... what's STOCK ride height to the center/top of the wheel well? My front is 26" and rear is 26.5" Kevin Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
From my 08 F430 spider before I had my shocks shortened took the measurements, then jacked up the car to remove the undertray, then took them again, and the 2nd set vary from the first. I assume the shocks didn't have time to settle @Mario Andretti , fyi Static 1st time: Front: 14.375" 2nd time: Front: 14.625" 1st time: Rear: 15.25" 2nd time: Rear: 15.625 Image Unavailable, Please Login
cf - Thanks buddy - had to run out to the garage and measure mine "from the center of the wheel", and... Front is 13.75" Rear is 13.25" So, I'm down a little over a half inch on the front and a whopping TWO INCHES on the back! I'm thinking these wheel spacers ain't gonna fly... Kevin
No problem I was considering spacers, but with being lowered [20mm], didn't want to mess around that much with the geometry, suspension stress, etc
From a previous thread , someone measured the stock ride height at 27inch from and 281/2 rear from ground... I am also 1/2 inch lowered on both . I had no problems running 15mm spacers all around.. remember that the wheel gains camber as suspension compresses, so it will not reach the fender if spacers are not extreme... I never tracked it with spacers , and I never will, so I just removed them..... For city driving only , it can be feasible.
MA - thanks for the confirmation - that's consistent with cf's numbers, putting me "down an inch in front and two in the back". The spacers I got (still in the box) are 15mm for the front and 25mm for the back - see here: Wheelspacer Performance Wheel Spacer Kit (formuladynamics.com) - likely too aggressive.. Will let you guys know what I come up with - and appreciate the info! Kevin
I still have my set of titanium extended bolts for sale .... made for 15mm spacers. Never used. I think 25mm would be a problem for the front in my opinion.
You won't believe it but... the spacers fit even with the lowering! I actually hadn't looked closely - it already had 15mm spacers on the back, which I replaced with 25mm - and then I added new15mm spacers on the front. I now have a spare set of 15mm spacers with extended bolts - FREE! - who wants'em? Kevin
Not the best shots, but the tires FILL the wheel wells now and this baby is LOW!!! Front tires turn lock-to-lock well clear of the fenders and can keep a hand between the tire and any internals - Can (just) put a finger between the rear tire and wheel well. But, don't worry - this isn't a track car, I'm an old man and it's a cruiser! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
